Oh yeah, check out the thread on where a guy bought himself a new Dell. He got an Apple attack. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Noisy? Stinky? Yeah, my Strokers pretty loud, can't sneakup on anyone either. Stinky? Yeah, if I stick my tailpipe in my window. Point is, where I sit, it's not loud, and it's not stinky. Doesn't bother me at all. If you smell my exhaust your obviously TOO close, so just back off and drive sanely. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Rat; this wasn't aimed at you. You were just the last post. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Once in beautiful downtown Detroit. I pulled up next to a cop that was yapping on a cellphone with his window down. Nice sneer I got from him. A Motor City hello, I guess. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif He rolled up the window sneering all the time. Guess he couldn't hear too well. Good example on his part eh? Yapping on the phone and driving and sneering at a law abiding citizen. No, I don't think cops are bad. I support them every day, but why did he have to sneer at me? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Show me an big block gasser F250 Ford or Dodge 2500 4x4 with 4.11's and an auto, that can pull 18mpg on the highway.

Boy you are exactly right Robert. That line that a gas engine is going to get as good as a diesel is way off. Maybe a half ton with a light v-8. But you put a like engine like the V-10 that is going to make comparable hp and it isn't even close. I don't know anyone with a 10 cylinder in Ford, Chevy, or Dodge that can even get 12 consistently.

As far as longevity any of the big 3 diesels should oulast a comparable gas engine by at least a 2 to 1 margin. If you plan on keeping your truck 250-500k it's a no brainer.

I did not see that thread. It's funny though to see where folks line up. I must admit, I'm not a pickup or car nut, I see it as more of a necessary inconvenience. Maybe that happens as traffic continues to worsen everywhere you go. Now if the car could fly over the traffic, that would be something to get a bit pompous about! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( Nope, I'll stick with a noisy 12 valve Cummins (either VE or P7100) over any of the new super-quiet, grocery getter, mom's taxi, aluminum headed, computerized junk they are trying to pass off as a truck motor

You Dodge boys sure are defensive. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Whats up with that? Its just a truck. You did not manufacture it yourself so why dog out the other brands? (Cause its fun, right?) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Me, I buy from whoever I believe has the best value at the time I purchase it. If there's a problem with it, I admit it. No skin off my arse, I didn't build it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My old 92' Chevy gasser has 284,000 miles on it. Put a new engine in it at 185,000, but it still has the original transmission. I plan to keep it about 5 more years at which time I will buy a Ford, Dodge or Chevy, whichever presents the best value at the time. I have zero automotive dealer loalty.

Friday, I will load the family in Mom's taxi with the leather seats, DVD, CD six speaker killer entertainment system, Perelli tires, 6.0 quiet fuel efficient computerized engine and head to Sanibel Island for a two week vacation while you fellas fight the Ford/DodgeChevy war. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If Dodge made an SUV this nice with a Cummins I might be driving it to Sanibel.

Well, I gotta run get a couple hours of seat time 'fore dark. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Uh, I own a Lincoln, a couple of Dodges, a Chevy (and, yes, I did actually manufacture that over the course of the last 5 years - pictures in the photo area), a Honda, a VW, a Ford, a Toyota, and others. I don't think I can be pegged as being very loyal to a particular brand. Does that make me a traitor? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I agree! I know my 1997 F350 Powerchoke did not get 18 towing, no way! It got 18 mpg unloaded and that was it. With 4:11's good luck! It was a nice truck but I did not need it with the hude delta in diesel. There is over $0.05 delta here. Thanks but no thanks.
