? difference between bx22 and bx23

Anybody know what are the differences between a BX22 and BX23? I'm thinking of getting a used BX22, but don't want to miss any important new features of the BX23. I know in other posts the 4 position valve was mentioned, ? anything else?

I believe the BX23, or at least the later models of it, has a physically smaller (though same hp) engine, which will not take a block heater, but will take an inline hose heater.

Also think the 23 had more kill safety switches than 22. If you rise up at all to see while running MMM, it stops.

This is a good ? for Junkman but he hasn't posted much the last week or so-must be busy puttin' the grass catcher together, gettin' seat time, or up to some new scheme or invention.

The engines are different. Both are 22 HP but the 23 has a new designed engine. But as others have said the differences are not major except the 4 way valve.

The BX22 and 23 have the same engine. It's the BX2200 and the 2230 that have different engines.

Neither the BX22 or 23 have cruise control.

On the BX23, the 4 way FEL valve is standard, and optional on the BX22.

The BX23 also has more safety switches (rigged to the seat) while the BX22 only has an ignition interlock if the tractor is in gear, or if a pto is engaged.

The BX23 has a higher backed seat.

The stickers are different too.

I believe the BX23 now has an FEL joystick control that stays with the tractor for use with other front mounted implements. My neighbor's BX22 has the joystick control that comes off the machine and stays with the loader. Don't know if that would be an issue for you or not.

As far as I know the BX-22 had a D905. My Early production run 2004 BX-23 also has D905 motor.

Is it really true that you can't put a block heater on a 902????

I have never heard that.

Junkman can verify or correct me on this one.

When I checked the Kubota site, the BX2230 is currently listed as having the D902 engine and the BX23 as having the D905. As I went back and checked the old threads about block and inline heaters for BX's, it does seem that all the discussion about not being able to use the block heater was in relation to the BX2230, rather than the BX23 as I mistakenly posted above. Below are three old threads I found regarding the BX2230 with D902 engine being able only to take the inline hose heater and not a block heater:

I forgot about the FEL joystick being changed. On 'Bota's site I saw the new seat; looks comfy!

I did hear that the 23 will be going to the 902 motor also.

Does any one out there have a late 2004 or a 2005 to verify this.

It may have just been a rumor.

It's easy to tell which motor you have there is a sticker on the top of the valve cover.

Thanks again,guys. For me, practically speaking, the differences don't seem to be very large between the two tractors. I'll be doing some stump removal, ground leveling and preparation, etc. I will be working on some inclines, though, and I seem to remember something about one of these (BX22 or 23) having somewhat weak brakes?

With the hydrostatic Trans, you will not have to use the "brakes"...just letting your foot off of the "treadle" will stop the tractor.

this is not always true with the BX. Alot of us have had issues with the hydro creeping. Not a big deal to me, but it may be to you. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
