DK 45 50 hour service

The dealer I purchased from said Kioti are "****" when it comes to changing your hydraulic filter or oil at 50 hours. He said it is a closed system and as long as you a careful to keep your couplings clean there is no real way for dirt to enter the system. With this in mind he said there was no reason to change anything until 200 hours if at all.

A second dealer recommended changing the filters only at 150 to 200 hours.

I was also instructed by a mechanic at the dealership to "not fill the filter" as it lays horizontal. This makes sense as most , if not all, of the oil would run out as you attach the filter. The filter says to lubricate the rubber washer, that's all.

Changing just the filter will result in about a 4 litre oil loss as the oil flows freely from the filter input hole. Less oil loss if you are quick or can park on a slope. When you top up the fluid it should fill the filter.

A vertical filter may be different.

If I read my manual correctly I should only change the hydraulic fluid completely at 400 hours.

It appears to be a question of personal comfort and who you want to listen to.

If you were to follow Kioti instruction and changed the filter at 50 hours, then developed a problem at 51 hours, can you say they won't blame your technique or the oil you top up with?

Quality oil from the container should be clean, filter it again, Why?

The tractor is warrantied against a defect in material and workmanship.
Why is it being delivered to me with metal filings in the housing?
If there are metal filings do they not settle and attach to the magnetized drain plug?

Your dealer is nuts if he said that. There is no reason on Gods green earth to be changing Hydra oil at 50 hours.See pg 7-15 of your owners manual it says filters only. I have worked with this stufffor years and we filter our oil often and rarely change fluid.

I don't have it in front of me, but my CK manual says to change the fluids at 50 hrs, and so did my dealer. After seeing the metal come out on the magnetic drain plugs, it's hard to argue it's not a good thing. I've got $35K into my backyard toy, am I really going to take a gamble over $150 worth of oil? (can't remember exactly how much the oil costs, but I think that's close)

I see that on page 7-15 it does say to change filter ONLY, however on the actual service schedule, page 7-4, look at the note in line 4, a circle with a dot. . In the important index this states categorically MUST BE CHANGED AT 50 HOURS.

Also as stated before, i was confused so i emailed Kioti corporate and got a response that the warranty CAN be voided if all hydraulic fluid isnt changed at 50 hours.

If the dealer says do it then it would be a good idea because he will go to bat for you. I guess if you get WRITTEN permission from KIOTI then you are good to go, unless of course you want to find a different dealer. My manual also states 220+ ft lbs of torque for the front wheels then elsewhere it says 150lbs. Manuals can be wrong. My second oil change I will go longer because of the hour rating of the mobile oil I use. It will also be oil sampled at that time so I know for sure. CJ

you know, i looked thru my email file and my printed files for my tractor, and i dont have a copy of this letter. I have copies of all the other questions, like can i use chains on front tires, and can i add a block heater. but nothing on the oil change.

More than likely since i was going to change the oil at 50 hours and i was already going to keep a log book with receipt and hours i didnt even think the letter needed to be kept.

I kept the ones about the chains and block heater encase i had issues later and the dealer said...you arnt supposed to do....., etc.

Its not like someone will chastise you for changing fluids MORE often.

You can contact Kioti corporate yourself by going to the kioti website and hit contact us.

they will ask for your tractors serial number, dealer info etc. but there VERY good at getting back to you.

Ive contacted them about 4-5 times on some issues/questions and they have always responded. I one of those guys that like to have a potential issue answered in writing on company letterhead.

The owners manual for the DS 4110 HS Maintenance Schedule Chart page 7-4 line 4 Transmission fluid Check at 10 hours, Change at 400 hours.

Page 7-14 "transmission fluid should be changed if it is contaminated or after the transmission is serviced or every 400 hours" and "When changing the transmission fluid, make sure to change the fluid filter".

Is changing the filter "transmission service"?
Is topping up with fluid "transmission service"?

and "replace the filter only at initial 50 hours and every 200 hours operation afterward"

That's three filters in 400 hours. Six if you are HST. (and I don't mean the Canadian tax)

The DS 4110 doesn't come with HST option but it tells me to change that filter at the same time.

Are these group specific manuals, model specific manuals, or generic manuals?

Kioti will need to get less ambiguous if the service schedule in our owners manuals are to form part of denying the warranty claim.

Whatever drives your tractor CJ. I don't need WRITTEN permission from anybody. Tell me this, How many other tractor brands say to change Hydra oil at 50 hours???...... NONE.:confused2:
