Do not push red button!!! (Lincoln welder question)

I forgot to mention something. Check your duty cycle. It should say a percentage. This is how much your machine is rated to work between breaks. A 10% duty cycle means that it is meant to weld ten percent of the time it is turned on. So for a 10% duty cycle this machine can weld 6 minutes out of every 60 minutes. This is only an example to illustrate my point. Many machines have higher ratings. Some dual voltage machines may have different duty cycles depending on input voltage.

I realize you were trying to illustrate your point but duty cycle is based on how long you can weld in a ten minute time frame. A 10% duty cycle would mean you would be able to weld for one minute and have to let the machine rest for nine. :)

Sort of...

No. Welders duty cycle is rated on a ten minute cycle. 10% would be one minute out of ten, then cool down for the other nine.

And the duty cycle will change depending on how high the machine is set.
