I built a new 1st floor laundry room for my mother in-law last week. Her's was in the basement, and she turned 81. We've been after her to agree to it for about 10 years. Last week she said yes, so we hopped on it ASAP.

One of the nights I was there working on it, I look out in the driveway and my wife is walking up the driveway carrying two 40# bags of water softener salt, says "Hi" and proceeds to walk past me and carry them down the basement stairs.

After my father passed away we got my mother to do the same thing... at the same age as your MIL. The house was built by my grandfather in 1927 and the cellar stairs are steep and narrow; she'd already fallen down them once. She still goes up and down them on a regular basis but at least she isn't carrying laundry. If I had my way I'd take a chainsaw to them.

rains here every 3 days, almost never really drys up, i quit whining after seeing all the flooding videos from other places.

I try not to complain because there are too many people including TBN members out west who are dealing with drought and the corresponding fires. It does get old though... my feet have been wet for so long that I've started growing webs between my toes.

Yeah, I'm not complaining (much) either. Last summer was very dry and I'm glad the groundwater is back to normal. We only have a shallow well, and if the level had gone down another 2" we would have been out of water. On a positive note, last summer was a good opportunity to clean out the well, it had been about 15 years and silt was starting to build up again.
