I haven't seen anybody argue otherwise. OTOH there seem to be an awful lot of posters taking umbrage with the fact that some do allow respectful access. It's not illegal, trespassing, or an entitlement, as many have implied. Nor is it a right. Being allowed to access somebody else's land is a privilege, and something which I appreciate.

My neighbors hunt my land to hunt and I have no qualms about it. However, they let me know who and when, and I can always say no, but I haven't yet. Also have a neighbor who uses a couple of fields for hay, because we don't need it.

The only time we had a problem was when we first moved here. There was a gentlemans agreement between the old owner of our house (who owne the place for years before selling to us) and a farmer down the road. Agreement was farmer keeps the land in good shape along with the fencing, and he uses the land for his cows. That lasted 3 years and I felt like a jerk, but we told him no more. He did absolutley nothing for the property, and if a cow got out and we called him, he wouldn't even fix the fencing. Found out later that the guy wasn't well like by most, but we were new to the area and didn't want to make any quick changes. Couldn't take it after 3 years though.

Oh, that's simple take care of. Empty a couple of mags at night. People generally don't come back if they're on your property.

Please note, use some sort of night scope if your doing this because no matter what some here may think, if you know what your shooting at during the night time hours, you aren't a redneck.

Please note, have no clue if this works at night, but if it works during the day, it should probably work at night as well. Added during the day, you don't need any sort of nigh scope to know what you're shooting at.

- Jacks (the game)
- Jack in the box

It goes on for a long time.

See, that's the thing. By not posting land in Maine, they ARE giving you permission.

It's not that hard of a concept to understand.

And that's the way that it is in your state. When you come to mine, feel free to ask for permission. Most small landowners will appreciate it. They are a very small portion of our land ownership though.
