Do you know what the purple paint law is?

We have heard used the term around here "jack-lighting deer" In other words poaching at night by using a good flashlight to light up the reflective eyes of the ungulates. Once spotted you poach them with a long barreled .22 rifle. You then field dress them on the spot quickly before the game warden "poaches" you and you skedaddle out of there. This is a time honored and successful tactic used for decades for the "have not's" to have some meat to eat. The reason for the long barreled and closed breach .22 rifle is that the longer the barrel and with a closed breach is that the lower the noise will be. You also use standard velocity NOT high velocity rounds. All shots taken are head shots. ALL of this is just hearsay of course.

There is absolutely ZERO justification for anyone to break laws against wildlife i.e. poaching....calling it a tradition is no different than conspiring to commit any other crime...

There is not a region in this country that does not have some kind of local or regional food bank program as well as government assistance...there is no excuse for someone to claim that poaching game is the only way to "have some meat or eat"...it's nothing but a lie that ill bred people use to justify the fact that they don't think the rules apply to them...or are too lazy to learn the skills required to take legal game in a legal manor...!

Be careful on how you use the word 'tradition'. Native Indians and on their lands allow the 'hunt' in traditional ways. People may tie your term used to the Native Indian tribes across our good country.

Now, illegal poaching is just that . . . illegal.

Each state has laws on hunting and also the rights of land-owners. Some states do allow land-owners on their lands to hunt out of season. It's not termed poaching on your own private property in those jurisdictions. It can also be deemed 'traditional' because of land passed down thru generations too.

Topic in context of the OPs posting though. ;)

So, fossil records date back to Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve.

Yes, modern **** sapiens date back to 60-70,000 years in Africa but artifacts discovered from Virginia down to South Carolina are at least 50,000 years old, meaning that humans inhabited North American long before the last ice age.
In grade school I was sent to the principal's office when teacher said "Columbus discovered America in 1492" for saying I thought the Indians were here first.
Same thing happened to my wife in school. The principal called her Dad to pick her up (a 6'6" Cherokee!). He said his people had been here thousands of years before Columbus.

Modern day tribes are most closely related to paleo clans (from siberia) that migrated here 5K-7K years ago...well after their more distant relatives (clovis/paleo indians)...
