Do your own Fluids and Filters on a BX

1. when you change the hydraulic filter do you remove the metal protector or does the filter just make it, I removed mine but not sure if I needed to, thats why I changed the fuel filters.

My BX2370-1 has a protector shield under just before the hydraulic filter, I have to pull the shield off to change the fuel filter and maybe also the hydraulic filter. I pulled the shield but was wondering if I even needed to pull the shield off to change the filter, I think I do as its tight and most likely no way to get some tool in their without pulling the shield.

Each model has some slight differences and I've never had a BX2370-1.
Maybe some BX2370-1 owners will respond to your question.

I just did mine again for 600 hours. Did the front axle, hydro, and engine oil. Used SUDT, two new filters, and Amsoil 10W-30 for the oil. I also switched to a grease, Amsoil 75W-90 in the front axle. The front axle oil was pretty dirty and needed changed pretty bad, the hydro fluid was an amber color instead of clear but was probably good for another 100 hours or so. One thing I forget was how much this process cost. I didn't keep an exact cost, but I'm betting it was around $300.

Didn't think it cost that much for engine oil, filters, grease and hyd fluid. Anyone else paying that much?

The price can easily be well over $200 for parts if using all synthetic. Amsoil is good stuff, but the cost adds up quick!

all fluids done with Amsoil synthetic before amsoi customer preferred program $263.05 + $18.75 ship + $16.44 Tax TOTAL = $298.24 Fluids only needed for one change and one grease cartridge.

$212.23 after Amsoil preferred discount shipped with tax.

now we need the filters
$9.29 oil filter
$11.75 Hydraulic Filter
$14.52 for 2 fuel filters
$20.46 Air filter
$12.75 ship and/or Tax

$281 on filters and oil total today ( as tomorrow may/will be even higher) with the Amsoil discount program
Seems like very close to 300 to me

Amsoil oil is going up as of august 1st 6%

I also overfilled my front axle, mowed with it two times, the level dropped, and I added another quart yesterday. I'm not sure why it takes so long, or where the fluid goes, but it seems to take a while for it to show up low.

Apparently there are nooks and crannies or air preventing filling. Seems to be a common issue and real common on new BXs.
