Dogs in Lowes Store

My dog is well behaved in OTHER PEOPLE'S opinion.
My dog does NOT have fleas.
The ladies at Home Depot LOVE my dog, feed her treats and she drives them CRAZY
Bring it on if you are going to let me "have it"
Mine doesn't, but other dogs usually stick their noses in women's crotches...... have you had that problem with dogs?

Even you admit dogs, in general, are not well behaved.
No not ask me to judge one good dog,, out of a thousand. Statistically,, your dog is included in the results with other dogs.
Sorry.
I am just using your opinion,,,

When did I say that?

Misbehaved dogs are like sexual harassment,, ONE case is TOO many.
Some day, people will understand.

Until then, dog owners who bring dogs into stores are like the woman with 12 cats.
"Smell? MY cats and the cat litter boxes do not smell!!"

As I posted earlier, I vote no on dogs in stores except pet stores. I'm not in favor of laws against it and believe it's up the to the store owner. I would compare it to dropping a gum wrapper on the sidewalk. If one person does it, it's not a big deal. If everyone does it, it will become a problem. Imagine if every customer brought their dog everywhere they went, and why limit it to dogs? Should a person be able to bring any trained animal into stores or are dogs the only animals allowed?

It takes a village to raise a child, and I'll hold true it's the same for dogs. Problem is, too many idiots own kids and dogs LOL

The very few times I've taken my dogs out in public (and a great deal of times at petsmart when we were activily involved with the local rural human society), grown adults have absolutely NO CLUE how their own child should approach a strange dog (let alone asking the owner of that dog if the dog can be petted in the first place).

I'm pro dogs. I prefer the company of most dogs over most people. Easier to find a good dog than a good man IMO added you generally know right off the bat where you stand with a dog LOL.

That said, I don't think it's a good idea to take a dog to a public business unless it's a certified service dog (that said, seems people can call any animal a service animal nowadays). Way too many posible issues that can be caused by people putting their animals in a bad situation and not even know it.

As a business owner, I wouldn't want non service dogs allowed in my business just for the possible liability issues alone. Just wait until someone gets bit at a big box store by a non certified "service dog"....

Was at Lowes yesterday evening. I swear I had never seen a dog in a Lowes store before, but of course after reading this thread I saw one. It was a big GSD. Funny thing was, the dog was being pushed around in a shopping cart. Had to have been a 100 lb. dog.

For the record, I don't have a problem with it if the dog is well behaved, as this one was. Gave my arm a wet sniff as I walked by.

Another problem you have to deal with is that there are lots of people who are very afraid of dogs. And so do you want to make people in the store feel that uncomfortable? I always try and counteract any possible fears by saying "This is Jasper. He is very friendly, see?" And then I make the dog sit. For no good reason that I can think of, this works almost every time!

Aside from large aggressive dogs, which we can assume would mostly not be in a store, I don't know if there are "lots" of people "very afraid" of dogs.

My family had a poodle that sat in a bed, most of the day, on a desk in the office of our business. People were in and out of there all day. Only one person in 17 years, was "very afraid" of it.

Conversely, many people came in, because of the dog.

I DO know a lot of people that are afraid of dogs. Most of them are Filipino. When we have parties at our house we put the dogs in their kennel before people arrive or many of them won't get out of their cars. Most of them are American citizens that were born in the Philippines.
