Dogs in Lowes Store

I have only met one person in my life that was truly "very afraid" of dogs. She had been bitten as a small child and was afraid of them since then.

I have however met many "prissy" folks that just flat out don't like dogs, and look down their noses at dogs and people that own them. That's fine. But as long as their honest about it and admit their own inner "prissy-ness" and not try to claim it's something else.

Either way, I care not. It's up to the owner of the place of business if they want to allow dogs or other animals in their store. If they say "yes", then that's it. Don't like it? Then don't shop there. You don't get a "vote" at all. If the store owner says "no", then it's NO. Case closed. No need to make a drama case out of it either way.

Sheesh people, move along here.

With a box store, it's either going to be a company policy or not. Sooner or later the issue may be pushed.

Knowing how it could change the lives of canines everywhere, the dog scientists struggled diligently to understand the Doorknob Principle

To those that say, "My dog is trained, my dog would never bite, my dog obeys!"

My dad was a vet. When pet owners would bring their pets in they'd always tell him the above statement. So, ok you can hold him then - they were always surprised when the pet bit/scratched/etc their owner. So, I'll accept that your pet is well behaved most of the time, but occasionally not.

I have also experienced an elderly woman who i visited and said her dog would never bite but ended up lacerating her thumb. A few weeks later the dog did the other thumb. A few weeks later the dog bit me on my heel, fortunately I was wearing a heavy boot and was not injured. She always had an excuse for the dog, and she did take it out in public.

I've also had people come up to me in public with their little dogs and tell me that I should pet their dog and then stick the dog in my face.

So, I am cautious of dogs in public, but leery of their owners. But, I still contend that it is up to the store to make the determination whether to allow animals in their store.

Here is the issue if you're a business and you allow non "certified" service pets into your business... (and I'm serious)

If I see you bringing in your pet dog into Lowes or Home Depot, what's wrong with me bringing in my pet cow? Or, how about my pet boa constrictor? You're just opening up a huge can of worms by allowing one kind of domesticated animal into your business and then say you can't bring in another kind of domesticated animal into your business.

How about we just use some common sense and not take our pets into a business that doesn't cater to pets?

Or better yet, for the buisness to save them the future of potential headaches for allowing dumbasses to bring their pets into stores, just put up a sign that only certified service animals are allowed on the premises?

The reality is even though some of my dogs may be friendly and never bite, why should I subjugate other people not familiar with my pets in a business setting where one does not expect to see pets?

When some one asks if my dog bites, I simply say " not yet ". And no I don't take my dog into stores . I would, except I 'm looking out for her . Not the people .
