DOH~!!! Stuck

I do the same thing, BUT after turning the tractor off and dropping the 3 point hitch, I go ahead and raise up the 3 point hitch lever to the highest point. Once you start the tractor, it automatically raises the hitch so it doesn't dig in when you move but it still works as a boat anchor when the tractor is off.

I also have a step on the left side so moving the 3 point hitch to it's highest spot, allows me to get on the tractor from the left side.
I have done that a time or two but not on purpose.

Rather than the starter just trying to crank the engine to start....it is also trying to spin the pump and build pressure while cranking.

On a cold morning, with thick oil, and a battery with some age.....it just might make the difference between starting or having ot bust out the jumper cables or charger

The times I am most likely to do that is when I get off to open or close a gate, or when changing the loader from bucket to hay spears and latching down, etc. so the tractor is still running. At least 90% of the time, the first things I do after starting are raise the 3 point and the loader. I figure that being over 70, I am entitled to the occasional boo-boo, as long as no real damage is done. 👴
