yea i changed the return line yesterday and my old one had a fitting on the front of the ip pump that had 2 lines one going from it to the fuel tank then one going up to the injectors, the new line is just one line comming from the ip pump to the injectors and then to the fuel tank, its the same setup but the fuel tank line is not there it all goes in the one line they just put the tank dump at the end of the line,

Lot's of engines do it that way. The return lines from the injectors are just leak-off lines and produce almost zero volume. The fuel you saw returning to the tank was from the lift pump, which pumps way more fuel that the engine can use, keeping the fuel chamber in the injection pump full and air free by the back pressure regulating valve.

hahaha YOUR KILLING ME BOB hahaha your getting out the confushish stuff on me now, just dont start calling me grasshopper please hahahahah, so when you say 20 the 20psgi is on the line whet do you mean that it looks like it could be a blown head gasket ? ok now why do you think im loosing power, im thinking, maby i might be sucking air from the fuel tank

No, I don't think it's a blown head gasket, I think it's too early to make a call. Wait until you get 50 hours on it, then check compression again.
You could be losing power for a number of reasons. Is it because the governor isn't responsive enough, sluggish acceleration? Won't maintain engine speed?

i really dont know why it is loosing power bob it almost acts like it is running out of fuel, while driving it will start loosing rpm and when i push on the throttle it has no effect, then i stop and put in a lower gear and i can move, and it is responsive to throttle, and trying to take off in say 3rd gear in hi range makes it sould like its going to die so i put it in second and then it will move without stalling, also getting back to what you said earlyer you dont think im running hot and its just my gauge is super accurate did i get that right

well i drained the ip pump tonight and it looked brown and funki but was still slick like oil and didnt have a bad smell to it, it just looked like the parts in there havent seen any lube for 4 plus yrs and that the new lube i put in there was picking up rust, I re-filled it with atf trans fluid, i fig its about a 10w oil and has a bunch of detergent stuff in it and would aid in the cleaning of the inside of the ip pump, ill run that for a few hrs then dump it and see if it still comes out brown, does this sound like a good idea or am I going to do bad things to it, im taking tomorrow off on working on the tractor so she gonna have to sit for a day, i need to grab my metal detector and hit the bch and try to find some treasure

I'm with Bob on this, my tractor runs right up against the 100C mark when mowing/hogging and outside temp is over say 85 or 90F. If you are idling or reving the engine and temp runs up in to the 85 C range that is fine where it should be. I think you may be making too much of it at the moment.

On the 3rd geat High High then ya they dont like to take off in that gear. That is the highway gear and i have NEVER used mine, heck I hardly ever use H H 2. If I'm running about I sometimes go into the H H 2 on the drive or from the creek back to barn 100~200 yards. Otherwise most of my WORK is one in HH1 or HL3. I TILL in LL2 with the rototiller in previously tilled stuff but if tilling all new sod it is LL1. Well tilled gardens LL3 to HL1. I Plow in LH3 on a 2x14 plow with Moldboards but only occasionally do I plow.

I Mow in LH3 or HH1 depending on the Mower/Rotary or grass height.

The ATF should help clean the IP too, as said more cleaning agents.

The individual pumps in the fuel injection pump are lifted by lobes on a camshaft, this is how the pumps get their stroke, and the little pumps are putting out around 2,200 psig each which creates a lot of resistance against the cam lobes. The shear strength in ATF oils varies by type, but it is very low compared to engine oils and doesn't form a wedge very well. For those reasons I don't recommend using ATF of any type in a fuel injection pump, except for what you are doing - using it for a flush only and not for prolonged use. No doubt now that you have a bunch of crap in that fuel injection pump and governor and hopefully it will eventually come clean.

Just as an aside and FYI, here is the coolant filter I just installed on the excavator. It was pretty easy because there was already a cab heater and I just tee'd into the lines.

well i think (hope) I have my over heat problem fixed, I know I know I was not supp to go out to the barn today and was supp to go to the bch, well I did but one can only stand so many 25yr old tanned ladies walking around wearing dental floss for bikinnis, well back to the tractor, i think i built the eng like I like my woman tight and hot hahaha had to throw that one in there, but it kinda fits what i think was or is going on in the eng, the oil pressure came down more then a whole point at a 1000rpm idle, from about .45 to .3 and the temp has like magic stabilized at 79 to 80c at 1000rpm, so i think now at 3.5hrs of break in the lower bearings are loosening up just a bit and letting more flow thru and in turn im getting less oil pressure and lower or more stable temp, just a theory but im gonna go with it cause it sounds good and ive got nothing elese, hahahah. now its still having the power issue, and all i can think is that it has to do with the ip pump i have changed out all the hoses and cleaned all the filters so it is all thats left, i dont know what a bad ip pump feels like but I have a problem with the tractor feeling like its loosing power so i guess it has to be the ip pump or the injectors, does this sound right guys or is there another answer

Have you removed the sediment bowl from the fuel tank and checked that screen? The in-tank screen?
