dongfeng tractor with y385t wont start help

hey bob one other thing when i tryed to start it today it had to turn over many times before it cought then it died like it was out of fuel then i went and pumped the primer and it took about 8 revolutions to start but it cought and ran, could i be loosing prime some how maby a leaking injector ?

Now it sounds like the fuel chamber in the fuel injection pump is leaking back down - siphoning back through the lift pump. Did you ever clean the lift pump valves? Don't remember. They are just little plastic check valves on each side of the large hex plug. One is under the primer plunger.

no bob i dont think i did were are they and how do i get to them and clean them any pics would help, is one that spring looking thing in the banjo bolt on the front of the ip pump were the return line attaches to the pump

so do i pull the plunger out of the primer pump and I will find one there

This is an exploded view of the lift pump. The white discs are the check valves. Pay close attention to the seats because they can become badly pitted.
That black cylindrical thing above the spring is the lift pump piston. Note no seals at all, and adjacent to that is the eccentric cam follower that connects to the piston that gives it the in 'n out. Questions?

ok when i pul it apart tomorrow how far in to it do i go ? do i have to pull it all the way down as in your pic or is it much of a job, can i do it while its on the ip pump or does the primer have to come off sorry for all the questions bob but ive never dug into one of these before, i guess if you could give me a walk thru that would be great thanks

ok this is just a shot in the dark but from what im seeing I take the primer pump off and there is going to be a white plunger under it and then the thing thats to the left of the pump i pull off and there will be a white plunger under it also, and i am to make sure they are clean ? or am i way off hahahaha, well thats how mine would be i think yours is the other way around then mine but the same thing if that makes any sence, am i looking at the back side of your unit and the big 25mm or 35mm screw goes on the other side and that case yours would be like mine.

Yes, it's just like yours, and no you don't have to remove it from the injection pump. You are correct, just remove the plunger assembly and the adapter on the other side. There will be small springs with the check valves. It's actually pretty simple.
Make sure there isn't anything embedded in the plastic, and that the seats are clear and smooth.

thanks bob yea i looked at your pic for a few mins and kind of fig out what was going on there, ill jump on that tomorrow, would this also maby be why it wants to act like its starving for fuel when driving it or is this only going to adress the having to pump up the primer on the first start up of the day, thanks again

It could address both issues.
