Double Postings

The problem of double posting continues, seemingly unchecked.

I can tell when my post is going to double up, when I click on "post reply" and the window pops up asking if I want to "leave this page" or not.
Whichever selection, ends up a double post.
The only way to avoid a double post is to open up TBN in another window.. where I see my post has already "posted", and then close the first window.

Don't know if this is any clue to what the problem is, but hope it can be solved some day.

FYI when it happens, just edit the second post and delete it-there is a check box to do so. Yes it's a PITA, but its better than leaving a double post.

Yep. This is the only one. They must get paid per post and figured out a way to increase profits LOL.

You have a point. It would be useful to see a statement from management:
1. double posting is a problem and we are working on it.
2. double posting is a trick of the user operating/browser system and you should work on it.
3. double posting is a feature not a bug.
4. we have other things to do that are more important.

I just figured that when I click reply, the supercomputers that run TBN scan the post and realize how good the info is and decides to double post it for me to get the point across.:laughing:

That's what I was thinking.
But since I'm modest -
As mentioned above just 3 quick clicks less than 5 seconds deletes the second post.
This has been going on for over a year now, I'm surprised they have not found that little bug.

I knew it was over a year. I just was too lazy to research it and figured someone would correct me with the appropriate documentation.

Corrected: This has been going on now for almost 10 years.

This is a tricky issue as it's caused by a software conflict with some code. In order to fix it, we believe we need to take away the quick reply feature. We tried doing that in the past, but we got a lot of complaints as it's gone 100% of the time versus occasional double posting. There may be some other solutions that we can try. This is on the list along with a new mobile app and a bunch of other stuff.

One way to prevent double posting is to use the advanced editor instead of quick reply.

I don't get double posts but I get an annoying keyboard lag when trying to edit a post. It only happens during edit, not reply or new post. It's like a spell checker is checking each character as the underline follows along. If you try to type more than one character in three seconds, the character is just dropped. Normal typing is impossible. Also, trying to select text doesn't work.

I find the double post happens mostly (only?) when I'm using the android app. Similar to others, I know it's going to happen when the reply doesn't post immediately and rather the app gets "stuck"
