Dowsing, Devining, 'Witching' for Water

/ Dowsing, Devining, 'Witching' for Water #21
I can do it but I'm skeptical. I have located my water lines, electrical, neighbors septic lines, water, etc.

But in all cases I already knew approximately where they were or there were surface clues "It wouild have to approximately from here to there".

Latest incident was a lead (massive) in my well system. Having the standpipes fairlyi well on trunk lines that could be isolated I narrowed it down to the line from house to well. Contacted a business specializing in wells and irigations system. He sent one of those 'line location' (call 811) out who came when I was not home. Next day there were white arrows painted on the ground, drive and around the well. I dowsed between the arrows and sure enough got indicators. I figured that this was an old place next to an abandoned school house, there had been both wells and springs used in the past that most of it was old lines. Well company showed up and I asked about the lines "Oh, we painted them there showing where we wanted to run our line". I re-dowsed and now didn't even get a quiver.

Brother who is a believer and does it tried before I told hime what they were - indications, told him there was nothing there and explain why. He tried again - nothing.

Odd one - I was looking for my septic tank. Knew where the pipe was but not exactly where the tank was. Rods showed the line right up to the tank but would not indicate over the tank.

You know these dowsing threads come up here on TBN about every 2 years or so. I have seen several. The last one was where JJ got into it with someone, I cannot remember who.. I will just say this.. Those of you who are true believers, why don't you contact James Randi, and prove to him you can do it, and collect the $10,000? I know If I thought I could do it, I would sure try to get the money.. My dad went to his grave believing he was a "water witch", he never proved it to me.

For me, it seems to work, when it's just for fun, and when I really needed it, it let me down.

Is there science behind it? Do the rods have anything to do with the equasion, or is your mind tapping into some Universal information database (and I do tend to believe in suich a thing) and then your pychic powers control the rods as a visual indicator, just as some can bend a spoon with their minds.

Darn it! Missed that one, I bet it was fun.

This shows the rods only finding what you are looking for, ignoring water if you look for an empty pipe, and ignoring the pipe when looking for a water bottle, etc.

Wow! that explains everything, I was never "never looking for anything" when I tried it, and I never found anything either!

I am an irrigation contractor , I have the locating equipment , I have used the bent wire and marked my wire path , then come back and used the locator , same spots . One customer asked me how it works , I told him it was a trade secret .

James, I think that prize money is up to $1,000,000 now...to prove any "paranormal" activity.

That said, I have been known to handle the bent rods in the past, just playing around. The old mind sure can make those rods move :) you can find anything if you know where it's at!!

Yep, it is a million now. Go get it boys!:)

The Million Dollar Challenge - JREF

I don't know if dowsing would actually qualify for the Million Dollar Challenge. There's got to be some explanation for it... some people can, some people can't and those that can have varying degrees of 'accuracy'.

The 'tool' used is basically an extension of the person with the ability. Rods, Y branch of various tree types. a Mate of mine also wraps some solid-core copper wire around the end of a willow Y branch.

Scientifically, the head of the CSIRO (Australia's Government Science boffins) is investigating trying to come up with an instrument to replicate the phenomena as locating good water sources, in the Outback, for the mining industry is very important.

It doesn't look to tough to get registered for the One million dollar challenge. And it does not matter what country you live in. It would be helpful to get local media to examine your claim first, but a self made video would be considered. Not a lot of trouble for a million bucks US. I say go for it. If you can do it. I will point out that the water dowsing will be tested likely as in the past with plastic pipe with valves to channel running water in cross directions. You will need to be able to find the one with the running water. Should not be a problem, as this dowsing thing seems to work by some unknown to science mental power anyway. I notice the English gentleman did not have any trouble distinguishing between the copper pipe and the water bottle by "getting his mind right".

Here is the entry form.

I paid an old dude (90+ years old) to locate my well with divining rods...I was beyond skeptical although he nailed the location to the point that the well driller couldn't bail the well..That was 14 years ago and never a problem except for one pump konking out a week ago..Paid him less than $50 and that was at the drillers suggestion. He said that the only miss the guy ever had was locating a natural gas deposit instead of water. (didn't ask about the results of that one).

The diviner even tried to see if I could locate the water..Didn't work. He said he's only run into a few guys who could do it..He did try though and he never let me to believe in any mystery.

A neighbor brought a commercial divining thing up to locate my septic pipes and it nailed the location.. Dunno.

All I have to say, is anyone that thinks they have the skill/power/gift, then they should demonstrate the said same to get the million.. dowsing wells for $50 bucks vs. showing their skill off for a $1,000,000.00 is pretty darn stupid. Go Big or Go Home:)

Cant argue with the success that some people have doing it. my dad had one dowsed yrs ago. the guy pinpointed where 3 different sources crossed. hit plenty of water.

People like Carl Sagan just don't understand what this is all about. Or Michael Shermer (sp?) the skeptic. You can't explain it with science because it's not about that, and that doesn't mean it doesn't exist or is not valid.

How does ones pet know you are going to come home shortly? Without any schedule or beyond the range of auditory clues? A short while ago I saw a story on TV. Someone was in the hospital for critical reasons and in the midst of this, one of their beloved dogs went missing from home. It showed up at the hospital some distance away, clearly being seen on security video entering the hospital! It can't be explained in regular terms. Just like dowsing.

But for something to be total non-sense, the US government (CIA) sure spent alot of money on their Remote Viewing Efforts. See "MK Ultra"

I ran across this web site that explains the static electricity involved and why some are better at it.

"Divining rods and all common dowsing devices, are the simplest forms of electroscopes. The bent rod for example is just a variation of Gilbert's straw needle electroscope.
The divining rods are charged with static electricity from the dowser's own body. This static electricity can be seen quite adequately with a simple millivolt meter. This voltage is measured between the hands of the dowser, to measure this voltage accurately a diff amp should be used at the input to the voltmeter, "this eliminates stray signals which are common to both hands". The amount of voltage will vary depending on the person. A good dowser will have a high reading, "above 100 mv" while a poor dowser may read as low as,"0 mv.". For males the right hand is usually a negative polarity, and the left hand is positive in polarity. These polarities are usually reversed in females.

The divining rod charged positively will rotate in the dowsers hand to line up parallel to a negatively charged object being dowsed. A divining rod charged negatively will remain perpendicular to a negatively charged object being dowsed. This is because like charges repel, while unlike charges attract. Thus both bent divining rods are not required for dowsing. When two divining rods are used, and they are seen to cross, one of the rods is being moved to line up parallel with the charged object being dowsed. The other rod is moving to line up parallel to the first rod. A second reason for the two rods crossing is that of dowsing over an alternating current source, such as a pipeline or buried cable. these are usually buried shallow and are conducting ground currents as the path of least resistance."

Dangle $1,000,000 out there and see what happens, the research has started :) !!!
