Seeders Driveway Maintenance - Box Scraper?

If the "city" were to say anything, it would likely be to question how the scratches got in their asphalt.
The only issue of any consequence would be lots of sparks as your 5/8" sides are being quickly ground down.

Actually if you go to my "build" post, you will see that the 5/8 inch thick sides have 3/4"x 2" wide skids as wear plates, and the blades extend 3/4" below the skids. So if anything is going to hit the asphalt, it will be the blades which are angled about 35 degrees. My thoughts, it will be more than a scratch if I hit it at the right angle with the full force of the weight of the blade. My blades are Caterpillar brand Grader wear blades. I do know that if I catch the edge of a concrete sidewalk, the sidewalk looses. Did that by accident, and not with the full force of the entire weight on it.

From what I have seen with many of these videos, the operators go way to fast and end up wondering why their equipment is torn up. Not saying that this is the case here, although much faster than I ever do mine, just seems like a common practice. :(

My thoughts are, the operator should extend the top link a little so that the LP is picking up less gravel, which will reduce the spillage over the top of the blade, which should make the graded area a lot smoother without any more work. The spillage over the top of the rear blade just makes for a lumpy surface, something that can be avoided.

Never saw bounce one from the start on that ntractor, that lot didn't NEED anything.

Wonder how fast he would go on a rough driveway?

I think you will get a bruise in your lower chest area from the steering wheel slamming into you when the tractor stops dead in it's tracks. :D

Hmmmm,,, I was going to comment that you could see the FEL bouncing the whole time. Even at the end. I think he simply created a mess. Especially where he turned sharp and dug arched gouges completely thru the loose gravel surface. :)

I need to sell my GS1572. I should have bought a GS1560. Guess I need to list it in the classifieds. Got no response to an ad on LSN other than price inquiries (would like to get $1250) and would really rather avoid Craig'sList.

I kind of did that with a box blade that I used before I had the pull behind grader. i caught a cast iron water valve housing that came up about 4 feet to ground level. I caught it with the boxblade and it ripped the steel where the lift arms hook up. So I replaced it with a serious piece of steel, and a while later hit the same cast iron housing. Seven thousand pound John Deere decided to stop in a hurry!
If it didn't take 40 years to get a road surfacing done here, I would try it just to see what happened, (Here...hold my beer!!) Plus I would get caught and have to pay for a complete street resurfacing!

Apparently the hosting site has gone to using a bunch of ads lately, sorry if they show up with this picture. I imagine I will need to start looking for a new hosting site. I had about 80 pictures posted from the build on another post and it is filled with ads when you click on the pictures to view them.

Photobucket decided they weren't going to host pics free anymore. So they took all the pics hostage. If you want your pics back you have to pay a ransom.

I probably had 700 pics on there. Fortunately for me I never stored them solely there. I only loaded copies on Photobucket.

They can stick their ransom where the sun don't shine........
