I carried the watergate and post assembly out to the pond while hanging from the Mahindra's bucket. 2-11-17 Mahindra Lifting Watergate and Posts.jpg I then swung it into place with the CAT.2-11-17 CAT Fixin' To Set Watergate.jpg The ground was still soaked and when I dug the 12 inch wide trenches, the sides of wet sandy clay starting falling in. Water was seeping in also. So when I sit the posts in place................it was a foot short of sitting at the right level. Out came the assembly and I swing the backhoe back in place and tried to clean out the trenches. Water was everywhere and my 3 foot by 1 foot trench blossomed out to needing to add concrete forms. 2-14-17 Watergate In Concrete With Ground Water.jpg I had the makeshift forms in without cutting anything. It was real ugly, but all would be under dirt and sand. Before stretching the non climb horse fence, I added barb wire and twisted in at the top of the watergate posts.2-26-17 Watergate With Barbed Wire Bracing.jpg

The Big RED Beast can be tricked out in an around fence building machine. Hydraulic auger in back and concrete pallet in front. 2-25-17 Big RED Beast In Fence Post Setting Trim.jpg

The end posts for the fence are not on my property. They are on the back easement to my neighbor's place. They had a wire gap there, so I started my fence there. 2-26-17 Fence End Posts On Easement.jpg

Girls love pink and girls building fence use pink string to align posts! 2-25-17 Pink Fence String.jpg

Here's two views after the wire was stretched and staples installed. 3-3-17 First Fence Section Installed.jpg3-3-17 First Fence Section Looking At Pond.jpg
Barb wire will go on 6 inches above the wire on the neighbor's side for their horses.

Here is the next section of wire to replace.3-3-17 Next Fence Section To Replace.jpg About half way down this line, I will install another watergate. So the next section will just go to the 2nd watergate.

You have been busy for sure!!!!! I'm curious to see how your water crossing works. I'm guessing that you will hang something from the top bar that will swing in and out, but be too heavy for the animals to push it out and escape.

For mine, I pounded in half inch conduit every four inches. I'm not sure how long that will last, so the next one I'll probably go with half inch rebar. That stuff rusts, but never goes away!!

Eddie,
I put two sections of 2 inch diameter pipe on 1& 1/2 diameter pipe that I welded in as the frame top. 1-29-17 Water Gate Pipe Hinge.jpg The 2 inch diameter pieces will act as hinges and will be U bolted to 1/4 inch steel plate that is 2 foot by 6 foot. The plate weighs over 100 pounds. It might be overkill.

What happens is all the wood debris from the neighbors side blocks the water at the fence when it floods and funnels the water to the water crossing. I know it will lift the plate. But now I have permission to go onto their property to clean up the debris before it is impaled on the fence. Now I got to get my new hyd thumb installed on the CAT. Gentec HT1440 Thumb.jpg I be ready to work their soft ground, as it tries to swallow the Mahindra and grapple!

I have been busy here... http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/projects/348595-caterpillar-diverter-valve.html while the ground dried out to work the fence. I finished it yesterday.

I have cleared the fence for the second and third sections. I even built up the low areas in the second and third sections to direct water to the second watergate. But I forgot to get photos.............so I guess it has not happened. I will try to get photos this afternoon.

I did get the second watergate metal cut and tack welded yesterday. 5-14-17 Cutting Metal for Second Watergate.jpg5-14-17 Second Watergate One Side Tack Welded.jpg

Here are the photos I took this afternoon. They show the fence line I built up to channel the water to the watergate. I made it wide enough to move equipment on my side of the fence. 5-14-17 Fence Line Built Up.jpg5-14-17 Second Watergate Location.jpg5-14-17 Second Watergate Steambed.jpg

The fenceline line is still marked by the white post, just to the right of the small cedar tree in the background. 5-14-17 Fence Line Raised.jpg

Thanks Eddie. Ain't done yet. After the fence is finished, I'll be back to digging the pond to finished size and fine grading the new slopes. About 4-5 feet to the right of the loader bucket, will be the full water edge of the pond. The slope is started for the pond there. 5-14-17 Fence Line Raised.jpg It will slope up shallower all the way back to the stake behind and to the right of the bucket.

Today, I bolted the first post onto the watergate and located (& strapped) the second post. Depending on how much rain we get, I hope to cement it all in place sometime next weekend. 5-21-17 Second Watergate First Post Bolted.jpg5-21-17 Second Watergate Parts.jpg

Sure is looking good! You've been staying after it. I think I was out in your neck of the woods today. Went out county line rd into the forest near cedar! My buddy is on 1200 acres and was stuck at work. His pride and joy pig dog passed today so we helped out and buried him so he doesn't have to do it when he gets home tomorrow

Brett,
Thanks! So sorry to hear that. Do you mean Cedar Lane?:confused3: If you took the right fork instead of the left fork (County Line Rd) out of Willis, you would have headed towards my house. I'm about a mile and a half down that way.

Dad and I had a deer lease for a few years right in that area.:D The lease had access on Cedar Lane, County Line, and Taylor Browder Roads. Now all that area is sub divisions.:(

Was pretty close then! Yes, took county line road to cedar lane loop or something like that. Way past neighborhoods. Nice places west of 45!

I toted the watergate out to the pond Friday 5-26-17 Second Watergate Assembly Profile.jpg and set it in it's new trench home.5-26-17 Foot Wide Watergate Trench.jpg5-26-17 Clean Foot Wide Trench.jpg

It was a joy moving in place on the forks by hand to align with the strings. Just let it roll on the gate's hinges.5-26-17 Installing Second Watergate.jpg5-26-17 Watergate On Forks Getting Installed.jpg
I even had the truck out with me supplying tunes from the CD.5-26-17 Truck Providing Tunes While Setting Watergate.jpg

Lots of sacks of concrete.5-27-17 Watergate Set In Concrete.jpg

..........and back filled today.5-28-17 Second Watergate Backfilled.jpg

The weekend of June 10th, I finished installing the posts. The corner post took 7 sacks of concrete, as the PVC post was outside the line on the easement and I put my posts just inside my line. The red and white pipe was put there by me over the corner marker so I never "lost" it. So it was a McGooh shaped hole. 6-10-17 Last Section Of Posts In.jpg6-10-17 Monster Corner Post In.jpg6-10-17 Second Section Of Posts In.jpg

Here is the old concreted corner post the neighbor put in with a concreted line post beside it. I'm gonna paint them black and add them to the pond rip rap. He reinforced the PVC in the concrete with black pipe. Remember, he's a plumber! 6-10-17 Old Corner Post With Lots Of Concrete.jpg

Every time I see pics of your auger set up I'm tempted to go out and convert my backhoe to do the same thing!!!! That's just the best idea ever.
