Got to tell ya, at 54 sweat pants are everything.

I tried the bib overalls a few years ago and really liked most things about them, such as all the big pockets, comfortable fit, etc. But they just seemed too hot in the Summer in this part of the country

Since I'm over 60, I'm also a victim of a strange Murphy's type of law dealing with gravity...the older you get the stronger gravity becomes. What used to be my chest has been pulled down by gravity and has become part of my tummy; which at times can make it difficult to tighten a belt proberly; in order to keep one's shirt from pulling out while stretching over head.

I've been trying to figure out what happened to my chest and where this tummy came from. This explains it. Gravity... who'ld a thunk!

Here in the Northwest, we seem to be having gravitational fluctuations which very with the seasons though. It's worse in the winter:D:D:D

Nobody's mentioned Diluth Trading Post's "butt crack spackle".
Good stuff.
Look it up!

I wear overalls every chance I get. They're too hot in the FL summer, but I live in 'em the rest of the time. I didn't ask my wife- I just bought some and started wearing 'em. I think she'd rather see me in overalls then have to witness plumber's crack- or worse! I lost about 30 lbs over the last year, and through exercise, managed to get some of my chest back up where it belongs. My bibs hang on me now- some fat so-and-so stretched 'em all out!

Well I am only mid 40's and have given up on the gravitaional pull I wear bibs or carpenter type pants now. I tried suspenders but they are not comfortable

I've got to share this overalls story. A co-worker of of mine decided to start wearing bib overalls. One day he had to drive up to his son's house (about 5 miles away). He was working in his garage so all he had on was the bibs, some flip-flops (we used to call them thongs but that's another thread!:D) & no shirt so you probably get the picture.:D Anyway, he jumps in his truck and goes to his son's house. While returning home his truck breaks down about 3 miles away. Are you getting a picture of this? He looks the truck over and dicides he needs to walk home. Here he is walking along a county road wearing nothing but bibs, flip flops and a smile!:D Along comes a couple and in good ol' Oklahoma folk fashion they pick him up! First thing he does is start explaining why he looks like he does! Nowadays he puts on at least a shirt when he leaves the house.

The last time I wore bib overalls, I was in my horse barn and opened the top drawer of a file cabinet to out some gloves.

A startled mouse jumped out the drawer and went straight down my bibs.

I did a jig that would have made any country boy proud. :D Finally, the mouse departed through the bottom of the legs without doing any damage to the family jewels. :)

Someday I may get up the courage to wear the bibs again.

Hahaha!:D:D I had pictured Jed Clampett doing a jig! Be thankful it wasn't a squirrel! Might have been a different outcome!:eek::D

Not only was Buddy Ebsen a dancer, but he was originally cast as the Tin Woodsman in 'Wizard of Oz. He had to drop out because he was allergic to the silver make-up.

Another good feature of bib overalls is some of the pockets are just the right size for your nose hair trimmer :D

Raykos,

Thanks for starting that post.
I haven't laughed like that in a long time.

There are some real good comedians on here.
You guys made my day.

To complement the mouse in the bibs comment I have a story on my Granddad. Most of his life he drove trucks in the oilfields and delivered pipe and equipment. One time, early in the morning, he's driving along and and all of a sudden he feels something run up his pants leg (actually bib overalls). This "critter" makes it about midway up his thigh before he has a chance to stop it before it reaches "where no mouse has trodden before" and he grabs the little "wad" and manages it shut the truck down without taking-out half the county! He reaches into his pocket without turning loose of the "wad" and gets out his pocket knife. He manages to open the knife and cuts around what he had gathered up in one hand leaving a rather large hole in his overalls leg. He tossed the "denim covered rodent" out the truck window after massaging him a little with those huge hands of his! I remember hearing him tell this story as a yougster and have never forgot it. Occasionally I'll have to drive a truck and think of that story from time to time.

That was in the time when most wives had a sewing machine or thread and needle and patched holes in clothing. I bet Grandma had to cut a big patch in mend those "greasers"! (Her term for work clothes):D
