Panicked a little too soon. Got 2 1/2 days of sun, and was just barely able to get the Kubota over the dirt without rutting. Perfect timing too, as we've heavy storms over the next week - so this might have been my last chance this year to do it right.
Given the extremely narrow window of opportunity made for a looooong day. Went over 3 acres with the landscape rake, creating small furrows and picking up the rocks/sticks that just seem to keep growing. Then, spread all the seed by hand using one of these Earthway bags/spinners - used the "four lawn chair" method to ensure complete and even coverage, worked great. Then, using yet another of the invaluable tips I've picked up from around here - I spun the tines around on my landscape rake, which put a perfect 1/2 - 1" layer of semi-compacted dirt on top of the freshly spread seed. Birds will really have to work at it now iffin' they've plans to ruin my efforts.
Now...patience. Not my best virtue.
