Around here you'd be mighty brave to admit moving in from California.
By the way...Nice Trailer! Can't beat a professionally made product if the price is right. I assume your discount had nothing to do with your point of origin or intended destination. ;)

Whenever any of the slack jawed drooling good ole boys around here comment on my California connection I remind them that I previously lived in (in no particular order) Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Mexico, California, and North Dakota (USAF, not my choice) went to high school in Oklahoma a few miles east of where we are standing (our football team kicked your team's ***** every year) did some college a tad north of OKC, and that I moved back here by choice, a conscious decision, not an accident because I never had the guts to get out of the county. That sort of reply usually leaves them with little further cute California comments to make.

If they want to talk length of tenure I mention my great grand mother (a breed from which I got my few drops of Indian blood) came to Oklahoma with her husband in a covered wagon during a land rush before statehood.

On the subject of statehood. We are celebrating our centennial this year, OKLAHOMA 1907-2007 (and counting.)

The trailer is from Texas, dealer was in Durant, OK (pronounced, Doo-rant with equal emphasis on both sylables.) They didn't take credit cards but took my personal check with a smile and a hearty handshake.

That makes more sense. I didn't have you pegged as "Californian" (which differs greatly from having lived in California).

We have the same problem in the South with the Yankees coming down here to retire in the warmth. When they start telling us natives how much better it was in the north I usualy tell them if it was so great up there Delta Airlines is ready when you are and they will be glad to take you back North.

What you got against such a great ball team?

Insane Diego (In San Diego?) I saw a lot of bumper stickers that were a backlash to all the I (HEART) NY stickers. They went like this...

(Heart) NY? Try I-40 east!

In general people resist change. Newcomers get blamed for any bad effects of change whether or not they caused or contributed to the change or if the change would have happened even if the newcomers were not there. Seasoned adults are more prone to resist/resent change than the young. There has always been and always will be change. The change in change itself is accelerating and brings more and faster change all the time. Many go into sensory overload or "Future Shock" and when they can't adapt, track, or adjust to the change they look for someone to blame whether or not the blamed were in fact, to blame.

I make no claim that change is always good, it isn't! One of the motivating factors on moving back to Oklahoma, for me, was rolling the calender back several years in many aspects.

I am not required to register my new dump (or other) trailer with the DMV. I am not required to have a tag on it(them) when it(they) is(are) for personal use not for hire. A change will come along making tags and registration and fees mandatory for all trailers used on public roads. It will be a revenue issue, pure and simple. When the number of voters not using them (non agricultural folks) sufficiently exceeds the number of ag folks the non ag will "TAX" the ag folks by supporting legislators who are always looking for more money to spend.

This will be a loss to the rural ag folks and more $ for politicians to spend but will not benefit the ones paying for the new tags. Hasn't happened yet but it clearly will. Doesn't take Nostradamus to see this coming. Who will the rural ag folks blame, cityh folk, new comers, or who?

Iplay,

I recently finished reading nearly all the posts in this thread and just now realized: You started planning and building the trailer over one year ago!!! I applaud you for your persistence on this project and can't wait to see some dirt or whatever slide out of the trailer. Keep the posts coming!!!!

Hey Iplay,
You have one more idem to add. A solar panel to keep the battery charged. I bought one of those cheep HF panels and it keeps my battery up all the time. My trailer is 2.5 yds and I've hauled over 150 yds to date and have yet to put it on the charger.
PS. DUMP SOME DIRT ALREADY:D
Great job !

I'm not sure who has demonstrated more persistence, me for sticking with the project, or you for reading nearly all the posts in this thread.:)

Thank you, sincerely, for the encouragement. At times, the support from the group here was the only thing that kept me going on it.

Some of my posts are never started due to me getting sidetracked on a project and knowing I will have to suffer the wrath of the TBN members when I put if off for a while. My dump trailer took almost a complete cycle of hunting season to just before hunting season. A good friend was helping me and we started at the end of hunting season, and we got it operational in time for me to use it just before this hunting season started. He never comes over during hunting season, as it interferes with what he waits all year for.

I moved the pictures of my "Ugly Trailer" and figured I would bring them back here to allow anyone that wanted to see them, since the link was in this post of Iplayfarmers and this is a dump trailer and the previous links I posted don't work.
