DUMP TRAILER

Just trying to help you guys out with some ideas as you can never have too many tractors. Have fun.

The advantage of a non-self supporting trailer is that it transfers a significant amount of wieght onto the towing vehicle. This weight transfer then acts to increase the tractive effort of the drive wheels. In the situation of a hay wagon-type trailer, only the weight of the tongue adds to the weight of the tractor.

Robert, I need more help figuring out why I don't need another tractor /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. Seriuosly, though - my B7500 is more than enough for my 3.5 acres. Between all of the tractor talk and the time I spend with my machinery, my wife already thinks I'm nuts.
What do you suppose Muhammad would say about creating a new forum: "Spouses of tractor fanatics"?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

There's a farmer near Bedford, PA that will build any trailer you want. I had him build an 8x12 twin axle hydraulic dump.

It has the interchangeable setup on the front so you can hookup to a draw bar, ball hitch or pintle. It's basically a flat bed with a fixed headboard and two sets of removable sides so it can be run with 2' or 4' sideboards.

I had him heavy it up so the axles are rated at 7,000 each and it can be dumped either from the self contained pump or the tractor's hydraulics. It's running 16" tires so off road is no sweat.

I say this guy is a farmer but he used to build 50ton lowboys in his shop.

Darran,
I am in Williamsport, Pa. I need a dump trailer with removeable sides to haul my 4700 between farms and also move material- Can you provide an email address or phone number for your Farmer friend.

Tony, try 814-623-9696 or 814-623-8696.

It's not a big operation so you'd have to get on his schedule. I liked the fact that he took the time to sit down with me and discuss everything about the trailer and even made some suggestions as far as the gauge of the metal, suspension, how to setup the sides so they could be removed, etc. I run the trailer across a creek so I wanted externally greasable wheel bearings and the jack had to be installed so it wouldn't catch on the creek banks.

He only builds trailers on order so you get exactly what you want even down to the color, electrical connector (I wanted a seven pin) and the tire size, etc. I wanted a tire that was interchangeable with some other equipment. l use the trailer only on the farm but it is road legal with brakes, lights and reflective tape.

After everything, I believe I saved at least $1,500 over the price of dump trailers I've seen advertised. Of course you're buying directly from the builder so there's no dealer markup.

Good luck, Darren
