lol, yeah they all have troubles. The big difference at least in my singular experience is that Ford is a LOT better about their service/buy backs than GM. My new max has that caddy feel inside, that definately does not shout TRUCK! its got all kinds of electronc id crud on the dash just like a '99 STS I had. In fact its exactly the same as the old caddy interior. even has the Bose stereo. XM radio is very cool though. The '04 is significantly quiter in the cockpit and outside. The ride is much smoother with out being soft. They made the rear seats bigger which is a real PITA as you can no longer fit a cooler behind the center console and the rear seat. Very little room behind the seats and the rear seat as well. No light under the hood on the '04. Now its time to get juiced and install a real fuel filter. Also thinking about the dual by pass oil system from Amsoil as I intend to run Delvac 1. Dave

Dave
Did they also cutback to one horn like they did on my top of the line 2003 Astro Van LT. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I agree Ron that's pretty dumb to cut out the hood light. Nothing worse than being somewhere and not being able to see under the hood. They couldn't think of anything better than to cut out a $2 light.

I don't know. There isn't much that you can do under the hood without it being in the shop any more. Or maybe why they didn't put it on, they don't want you to work on it.

I was laughing my butt off when I read GM was cutting theese things to save $$$. Then they put in a electronic digital Driver info center that flashes across the dash where the odometer is. Fuel mpg, avg, instant, seat memory 1 and 2, trip mpg avg, instant, annual OD, language, metric, english every flippin thing except the one I could use. It does the light delay, perimiter lighting, door lock in drive, passenger, driver, both. There is supposed to be a program so when you put it in reverse the mirrors point down and then go back when you shift to drive. And they claim they need to save $$$. lol. They need to drop down to Ford priceing and get rid of all the crud. Three years ago you couldn't get a HD with leather. Now you cant get one with leather thats not loaded like a caddy. O V E R K I L L......LOL. tooo much junk, not enough tough stuff. Hood lights, fuel filteration MORE POWER ! Dave

It is nice to be able to pop the hood and check fluids and such if nothing else. Or a fuse burns out and you have to change one in the middle of the night. Then you find out your flashlight batteries have died and now no hood light... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I agree with you Dave. They make these things so dang computerized anymore and for what? That is the one thing I like about Ford is that they still haven't dolled up the inside to look a car so far. I've heard they are making changes to do that though. Too bad. Last year they also went from having a light in the door to not having one. They still put the reflector there so it looks like there's a light there but they don't run a wire with a bulb in it! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

This is why I love my Dodge with the Turbo-diesel Cummins motor. The Cummins is still something that you can work on if you have to. And parts are still reasonable. But the service reliability of the Cummins is amazing, so I rarely do anything except change the fuel, air filters and oil/ filter.

So Dave what are u going to use for a pick-me-up?
I want to get one but not sure which one.
Juice w/ attitude or tow Quad?
I don't want a lot of power but some would help.
It also needs to be easily moved to the next truck so no pryo temp.

I am planning to roll with the edge products "Juice with attitude " /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I just like the name /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif lol I have heard a lot of good stuff about that chip system. Honestly my first order of buisiness is to get a 2 micron filter on and then decide if I want to run the Amsoil dual by pass oil filter system. I have oredered a couple cases of Delvac 1 so that is going to be the blood for the motor. I already have the transynd synthetic ATF and I definately reccomend everyone with a max make the switch. It is amazeing how much smoother the shifts are and it runs cooler. I'll be draining the transfer case and putting transynd there as well. I also will be draining the front and rear diff's in the next two weeks and switching over to grape juice. I would agree the Cummings is probably a better long term ( over 300k ) motor but I never keep one that long and the Dodge ride cant compare to the GM. I drive a LOT. I also do not like the quad cab at all. I wish I would have liked the Dodge better as I could easily have gotten the Dodge plan price. Dave
