Not sure but me thinks a pound of red diesel weighs about the same as a pound of clear diesel.;)
But how much does a gallon of red diesel weigh compared to a gallon of clear diesel?:)
Anybody know how much the RED Dye weighs per pound?

According to the latest published figures a pound of RED Dye weighs exactly 453.59237 grams.

I store my fuel outside in a 130 gal tank. It is really half a house 275 gal tank (yep, they make'm way too). It has a crank installed and is filled once a year. Because I live in Vermont where it can get a little cold it is filled with 40% kerosene and 60% fuel oil. It is treated with fuel conditioner twice a year.
It has worked well for over 5 years. No fuel spills and very eay to use. It cost around $150 total for the setup.

A diesel engine uses #2 Diesel. I thought Home Heating Fuel was #1 Diesel...?
HHO <> true diesel, anywhere. However, some distributors and retailers sell HHO as off-road fuel. HHO is not chemically equivalent to diesel. #1 diesel is usually, but not always, #2 diesel cut with kerosene.

Diesel #2 is for normal all year use as a motor fuel. Diesel #1 is for Cold Winter use and keeps diesel from Gelling in the tanks, lines and filters in freezing weather. Over the counter additives can be bought and added to #2 to take it to a lower temp. and the use of heated filter mounts and insulation on fuel lines will help keep them from freezing. When the Temps go down in a given area the distributor will add Diesel #1 to number #2 in a Blend to keep it liquid and you just pull up to a pump and buy it. You can ask if you want and they will tell you if number 1 fuel has been added. It just cuts down the amount of Paraffin in the fuel.
Diesel is one color. Red Dye is added to Agricultural, Industrial, to show it is not taxed as a motor fuel

Up our way the Shell dealer sells one type of heating oil for indoor furnace tanks, another for outdoor units. Both are dyed. The "outdoor" oil is used by all the off-road deisel users as well. I picked up a used 100gallon tank, put it on a stand with a hand pump and the fuel-oil man tops it up when he delivers furnace oil.
Every few years we have to have our heating appliances inspected, including the tank or they won't deliver oil.( tank must be fastened to wall, mounted on concrete, nylon covered copper feed line etc) None of this applies to tractor tanks.....

I have a problem with my back not liking me lifting a 5 gallon fuel can 4' in the air. Purchased a battery powered kerosene pump from TSC to transfer fuel from can to tank. Takes longer than pouring. But no back pain.
I also have a 12" funnel that I use to fill the tank. I always make sure there is enough room in tank for the full 5 gallons. Then just pour the whole can into the funnel. I learned the making sure there is room in the tank the hard way. Fuel all over the place and funnel still has a gallon in it.

Ron, I too use a battery operated pump. I set the gas on the hood and use this gizmo. You are right, it is slow, but it is relatively clean and works good enough for me for 12.99 at a local hardware shop.

Can you please turn off the Caps Lock key? Your posts in all caps are annoying and very hard to read.

Thank you.
