Bucket teeth make a world of difference digging. I do like to take them off for grading though...

It looks like you can get some work done now. Making flat ground was the best thing I ever did, lots of diesel and time...but worth it.

I never posted a picture of how the air inlet turned out. You can also see where the fuel filters were moved to, they were where the top of the inlet now is.

I was working on the tilt cylinder yesterday. These are the old parts, I didn’t get a fresh picture. The seal in the middle is too wide to go in there, one side wants to stay raised. I since measured the groove width at .246”, and the seal width at .271”. That’s 25 thousandths interference, I should have checked the parts people’s work. I can check the local place I usually go to tomorrow. In the beginning they said they stock it, but were out of stock. I can see if they restocked, and take my calipers with me. I need to go there anyways to get o rings for the hose fittings.

The packing has endplay inside the gland, not enough to get another v pack in there. This doesn’t seem right, maybe the original had the correct thickness packing to fill the space without endplay? Is this a problem? Do I need to shim it? I doubt you’re supposed to put in another and squeeze it down with the retainer, I think the retainer should be metal to metal. The manual doesn’t show this cylinder, it’s one of the things they didn’t get around to updating on my serial number. So I can’t see exactly what’s supposed to be in there, I should go look at what came out of there, it was in bad shape though. The bushing has a v cut in it that the packing fits perfectly into. They gave me flat ones for each end, using a flat one on the other end puts even more endplay.

I got the seal width right to fit in the groove, now I find out the seal I.D. is too big. Or does it stretch and come back? there’s no pressure on the pick, I’m just using it to hold the seal out, because I don’t have three hands. I can work finger and thumb around squeezing the seal from opposite sides, and it bulges out.

The last time I did a heavy cylinder I had to use shim stock to hold the seals in as mine had streched working them around the gland.

You mean you had to compress around the gland? Like with a hose clamp?

Yes, I used several shim stock strips vertical so I could work them out I've heard about using hose clamp have never tried it.
