We have friends that own a Grand National. They bought it new. About every 2-3 years, he dusts it off, shines it up, drives it to a car show, wins 1st or 2nd place, and drives it home. At least he drives it to the car shows.... but man, if I had a car like that, I'd have beaten it to death in the 1st year. Hard to keep my foot out of something that fun!

I have a couple muscle cars, but they need restored before I would drive them to a car show. They sure are fun to open up once in a while , but I don't need or want any tickets.

glad to hear both mentioned turbo V6 GNs are still running fine. The small Buick engines are tough.

While i am a big fan of 1960-1980's muscle engines from Detroit- Do believe there is plenty of room for electric and hybrid vehicles.

and Owning a hybrid is on my Bucket list...

We have friends that have hybrids... Prius and Camry... they are nice, comfortable cars that get great mileage. Kinda creeps me out when they back out of the driveway in stealth mode! I think the car is rolling away! hahaha..... However, I enjoy pure internal combustion too much to let it go for now. I've felt the one's I've been in are dogs. Maybe it's just me.

Well I saw a show ( Head to Head) that compared the model S P85 Tesla and the 707 HP Dodge Charger

I think it accelerated pretty quick with 691 HP and also the 687 lb. ft at zero RPM
215 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat vs. 215 Tesla Model S P85D! - Head 2 Head Ep. 65 - YouTube

but he did admit that the Dodge put a stupid smile on his face that was hard to wipe off- I do understand that one especially when I uncap the hedders on one of my 455 equipped cars and floor it.:D

I do want to own a Hybrid or (possibly) an electric only vehicle someday. The technology is advancing and what can I say- they are just cool, But will admit, there is something about the looks of the Prius that would bar me from owning it. ( sorry Prius owners)

But that's all electric, not a hybrid, and not in anywhere near a price-range I can afford. Sure would be fun, though!

We have a Tesla charging station at our local mall..... I've never seen a car there, ever.

I saw one Tesla here in town a few months ago. Wondered what he could possibly be doing in South Bend, Indiana on the west side in a Tesla? I know he was getting out of there kinda quick, though, as I had a tough time keeping up with him in my rusted out '93 Suburban K1500 with 3" Thrush glass pack muffler.... hmmmm.... maybe he saw/heard me following him and got nervous? :confused3:

...

Before we had children whose hearing and lung health would have been effected..... we had GMC 3/4 ton with a 454 and open headers as the exhaust had rusted off, as did the floorboards. Basically, both exhausts ended directly under the driver and passenger footwells. I'd idle up the parking ramps and set off car alarms. Flooring it produced fantastic noise.... and a cab full of exhaust.

MossRoad, I've been reading whatever I can find on EV's and found one thing that will surprise you: Forget the Prius. Boring, as you noted.

Chevy Volt which you would never expect has, according to magazine and owner reviews I've read, stunning initial acceleration.

Same physics as Tesla. An electric motor has incredible torque at stall and Volt has one big enough to launch the thing like a drag car. Owners say its just plain fun.

2013 Prius had a power-to-weight ratio of something like 25lbs/hp. Our 2013 Impala is 11.8lbs/hp. And to add a fading in the rear view mirror insult.... the Impala weighs a tad over 500 pounds more than the Prius..... that's sad. But, two completely different cars, so not a fair comparison at all.

I've been reading your comments.... I'll look into it, thanks!
