Embarrissing Tractor moments?

Hate to even admitt that I have turned my tractor over on its side, had to have the wife come help and pull it bacak on its wheels with the truck.
Quite a shock as I sat straped in lying on my side.

Not embarrissing because I've been the only witness (untill now).
But I need a small step ladder to access some things on the tractor. I have a 43 year old tractor so it needs some TLC every now and then to get it running. Well I'll have the ladder next to the tractor, in front of the back tire. I'll get the thing started and forget the ladder is there. Since it's pretty short I dont notice it and have completly run over a wooden one and started to run over a small metal one. I now have a 4' with the hopes that I'll notice it before I take off.

Nobody knew it but me, but it was still very embarrassing to me. I was running my 3PH PTO tiller and my neighbor walked over and wanted to talk. So I shut the tractor off, and chatted a few minutes, and after he left, I went to start my tractor and it would not start. Nothing, lights came on, but starter would not engage. Tried several things, and still nothing. So I walked back to the house, got my remote starter switch, came back, removed the engine side panel and hooked up the remote switch to the starter, and it cranked right up. But the tiller was spinning...... Then it hit me . I had agonized for minutes fretting over what could have happened, when I realized that the PTO was still engaged ( My tractor has an independent electrically operated PTO ) and I had forgot to turn off the PTO while I was talking to him and had not thought to check it when it would not start.... DUH ! Nothing wrong with my tractor but the operator.:D

Has anyone ever take off thinking you were mowing only to find out you never engaged the PTO until some time later. I never have:cool:

Yep, done it with the tractor. With the lawn mower I have a few obstacles that I lift the deck to cross and often forget to lower the deck until I have made a round and realize the last pass is a couple of inches high.

That doesn't count, I've done that so many times it isn't embarrassing any more.

No, and I have never "mowed" with the deck raised either:confused3:

My PTO is activated by setting a manual switch AND hitting an electronic one. On occasion, I have accidentally hit the electronic switch and shut off the PTO while mowing my rather rough pastures. I guess the Mohawk look is "IN" for pastures in my neighbourhood.

I've also done the ride-on raised deck trick lots of times.

Hmmm, that does sound familiar. On my riding mower I have found that if I get too aggressive around bushes the branches will disengage the mower blades. I wear ear protection and don't always pick up on this, what with all the commotion from the branches raking me too. On the next lap around the yard the transition point is obscured by the bush so even then you are not guaranteed to notice right away. Some days it just takes a bit longer to mow the lawn.
