Empty weight of Ram 3500 Quad Cab DRW 4x4?

Per Dodge's online brochure, the 2009 2500 gas quad cab 4x4 long bed has a payload of 2,820. The diesel, same configuration, with auto is 1760, and with manual is 1690. That is from the official literature.

Gas will always win the payload war over diesel but the diesel will win the tow war. Not being brand bias, well maybe a little, but that is one area Ford shines in because they offer so many GVWR to keep the payload numbers on the diesels as good or better than the gas counterpart.

For OP, What type of trailer do you have? that's pretty heavy for an empty trailer, unless it's like a 10 ton equipment trailer?

I have a 3500 DRW but mine has utility body, light weight is around ~11,500 avg. that's with tools and a few things in the bed.

Pics here are of my dump trailer on truck. go into the quarry at 14,000 and leave at up to 23,000. which is my CGVW.

This truck handles the load beautifully with 300+ HP 6.7 Cummins with integrated VG turbo (engine brake) and Aisin 6 speed tranny in tow/haul mode. stopping the load is as sweet as getting it moving

Man, that is a light weight dually. Did you actually weigh it or are you going off the manufactures BS? I guess I am used to diesels. My short bed extended cab 4x4 2006 F-350 PS weighs 7,600# with me in it and 3/4 tank of fuel.

It has to be real close as with the helpers just touching with 1 ton of cement mix in back, it weighs in at about 8250 on the scales. 8500 with me and a topped off tank in the truck.

It is a Load Max, 24'x83"wide gooseneck low boy.. I did search their web site but did not find the light weight of it..

I left the scales at 24,670#, I did not get a tare weight coming in.
The 4'x 20'x 1/4" thick sheets of plate steel weighed 1,650# each (was hauling 7). Trying to figure the empty weight of my tralier.

so that means your trailer is about 5,620#

an empty weight on a trailer of 5K? what is it a 20K lb trailer?

i consider most 20' "equipment" trailers (6" C frame on 8 bolt wheels) to be in the 2500lb empty range. but TWICE that?
