An option for those not liking clean air and water is to move to a country that has no regulations, they and their family can consume lots of nasty chemicals that way. If they don't think these chemicals and pollutants will harm them, that is the way to go. The whole world needs to be aware that we live with finite resources and an exploding population. Something has to give, think it through.

Come on we all know a business man would not emit, sell or install something that is a hazard to an individual's health. First Responders to 9-11 have some very serious health problems from breathing and ingesting air borne pollutants and other toxic hazardous materials used when the World Trade Center was constructed. Recent approved Federal Legislation sets something like 7.4 billion of tax money aside to pay medical and disability cost for the brave individuals who responded.

Ah the old political talking points. Do you know anyone who has lost a job, beside the polluter because they have had to stop destroying the environment. I personally know hundreds who lost a job because of management and corporate greed. I know hundreds of seniors who have lost there life savings because of corporate greed. So if I am going to complain about anything it will not be about someone trying to save the environment for future generations it will be about corporate greed, management greed and Wall Street greed.

The first jobs lost were in the South, textile and furniture went to China. Next the tech jobs started being outsourced to India. Then help centers went to India, Jamacia and China and other countries where someone could be hired for 4-5 dollars or less for 8-10 hours of work.

I for one am realistic enough to know Corporations are not going to bring jobs back to the US and pay someone 20-30 per hour when they can remain in China pay 1 dollar and hour and pocket the 19 - 29 dollar per hour difference. Think about it for a moment, would you?

Reality really struck some states in the north. Large corporations had polluted the environment so much that they closed large plants and jobs and moved South after receiving large cash incentives. Now guess who is left with cleaning up the mess that was left.

The fact that you wrote this means you have never had to deal with the EPA. I have. I have seen businesses wiped out simply because something with their name on it was found at a toxic waste dump. Doesn't matter if they never produced a drop of toxic waste, the government assigns a value and they have no choice, pay or the government takes your assets. It's called cradle to grave, look it up. The company I work for is so worried about it that we now own trucks and ship it directly to the waste sight because the companies that are bonded to haul it charge so much plus the fact even though it's on their truck we have to pay if anything happens.

Read up on cement factories moving to Mexico because of the CO2 emissions being so high in California that the choice was move or fold. Good thing we have that great fence that stops CO2 at the border. There's an Asbestos mine near by that's long been closed. Over the years the tailings were used for gravel roads. The state said that the Asbestos in the rock was killing people. The people in the local towns voted to block the EPA from declaring it a superfund site. When people have two choices, live with dangerous asbestos or have the EPA come in. They made the choice to live with the Asbestos because option #2, the EPA, would have been worse. These are not businesses, just local people that understand that if their is any asbestos in the rock in their driveway then the government can, and will, assign a value to the clean up of the sight to them and if they don't pay the government will seize all their assets.

Do you understand that? People would rather live with the dangers of Asbestos than the dangers of the EPA. That's how bad the EPA is.

Not disbanded....they have done some good things over the years...but now, I think their mission is more to justify their existence more the the environment.
I see the organization being put in caretaker status (maybe 15-20 percent of it's normal budget) and audit the existing regulations. The caretaker staus should be reviewed every 5 years or so...
