Go back to the original picture. A Tesla Wall Connector umbilical is 24'. That Tesla is parked close to the garage resulting in a lot of excess cable which they chose to coil on the ground rather than loop over the Wall Connector (as it is designed for storing the cable). That is not a public walkway. Doesn't even look to be access to the home.Although I poking fun, I actually agree with you. Especially WRT delivery people, who can never see their feet while carrying packages. If it were mine, I'd bury conduit under the walkway and have a box or cord hanger on the other side of the walk, if that were to be the daily route of charging.
Short of that, you could rig a boom overhead to dangle a cord from, to be pulled down and plugged into the vehicle when in use. Like a giant pot hanger from an old cooking fireplace... were they called trammels?
A cord or hose across your sidewalk on occasion is fine, but probably not a good idea for daily use.
I do much the same when charging from my Wall Connector. The cable comes out from under the garage door to the rear of the car. I lift and lay the cable so as not to drag it over the rough concrete. When finished I semi-coil the umbilical and store in the rear of my Porsche, which sleeps in the garage.
Have posted Ring videos of this setup. No doubt the Ring links are dead by now. But for some reason no one thought to invent a trip hazard, even when one of the videos was of myself, tripping (on ice).
When the Porsche moves to it's new home the garage will be free for the Y.
