Maybe you should at least list your tractor experience on your signature line instead of just "Advertiser".

I don't feel the need to brag at every opportunity. I help out when I can, where I can...and let my advise speak for itself. Maybe you should add "employee owner of Hypertherm" to yours.

Mark, being abrasive is not going to get any of your Everlast machines sold. At least not to me.
I fully expect a putdown for my remarks. So go ahead if you feel the need.

To me, I heard positive statements from you in an earlier part of this thread and was impressed. That all went away when you got threatened by the next guys comments. I saw nothing that would have sold me the other plasma cutter just because it is in his local area and he takes pride in what he sees them build. I don't have any problem with you showing what you think is good about Everlast as well. But taking personal potshots was a little overboard IMHO. Or at least that is the way it sounded to me.

Aginn,
Point taken. But here's the deal: Jim does this on many forums dozens of times, if not more. He has done this on this forum multiple times in the past...He has many excuses why he posts essentially the same material over and over. One time, he said he was searching for "plasma cutter" and didn't see the the post related to Everlast, and even promised to never post on a forum where the name was mentioned. (Truth be known, that is considered a form of "trolling") The fact is, there is nothing that I can see inaccurate that he had to correct about the Hypertherm product...it's another cover story, pure and simple.

If this was the first time he had done so, it could be understood and easily accepted. The way he posts, it would seem so to someone new or uninitiated, but now, this is his established modus operandi, if you will. I still have not disparaged the product. I've called Jim out, but nothing more...and I am not the only one that has seen through this thin, innocent guise that Jim is and has always tried to use to "horn" in and hawk about his product. I would have thought Jim would have been warned already about this a while back by the management of this site.

Sounds like a little history between Mark and Jim ... Start a new thread and you can slam back and forth!!

Ok, so both Jim and Mark have their issues with each other. Jim is not trying to help the poster in any way I can see, and it seems apparent to me that he is advertising. Mark has a competitive history with Jim, and has come down pretty hard on him in this thread. How about taking this stuff to another thread or offline. The users of the forum deserve better than this.

Boy these welding threads always seem to bring out the worst in us here recently.

I do have to say that to me Jim Colt is the one who is out of line on this deal. The "piece of work" personal comments and telling Mark to put his tractor experience on his sig are both waay out of line.

Makes me want to get rid of my hypertherm and get an everlast plasma cutter.

Better to take it to a PM instead ... since this back and forth is NOT serving the best interests of either party.

ThomasH,

The original poster stated "Any love for the everlast plasma? Or spend the extra and get the hypertherm?". That is what caught my attention. Further, there were statements comparing where products from both companies mentioned (Everlast and Hypertherm) were made. There was a statement about the Powermax30 leads being stiffer than the other product (they used to be, in fact now the opposite is true).

Look at my responses, they cover the above and are pertinent. The idea of forums is to get answers. No better place to get them than from experienced people that work for the companies, as Mark does and I do.

The reason I mentioned a plant tour....is because if you take one....it will 100% back up everything I say. You will see PC boards being assembled, you will see every product in our line being built in our factories. If that is advertising so be it.

The reason I mention employee owned.....is because the company is. And being part of it for 36 years makes me pretty proud. If that is unfair...so be it.

Do a search of posts by me, JimColt , you will find that I offer advice when questions about plasma cutting are asked. Not once have I ever quoted a special sale, special price.....as I do not sell, in fact no one from Hypertherm can sell direct. My job is to keep people informed and help with their plasma , laser and water jet cutting decisions....if we have a product that fits of course it will get mentioned. If we do not...I refer the person that asks to someone that does have the correct product.

The history I have with Mark was with me posting technical details on a forum that he owned (paid for)...that was a few years ago, and I honestly made the mistake of crossing the demilitarized zone into his sales forum. In hindsight it was kind of funny, but he won't let it go.

Oh well....any tech details that need answering regarding plasma...I'm here lurking (or trolling!)

Jim Colt

How is he NOT helping the OP?!?! The OP is looking for advice, he is describing his product.

I have no idea why so many members on here think any company that does not pay the site should be ignored or not allowed to post....If I were looking into a large purchase I would love to hear from as many sides as possible, not just the one paying money to be on here. I guess it's the way of the iternet chat forums though, no longer owned by people but whoever pays the most for advertising....no longer open forums for sharing knowledge, just what advertisers want you to see...

The users of this forum deserve balanced views and as much info as possible, no matter if the person pays to advertise or not....
