When you stick it into the fuel, it fills to the level of the fuel, then when you shake it, the fuel starts to move up, which sucks in new fuel from the bottom of the hose. When that "runs out of steam", the check ball keeps the fuel from flowing back out. The next time the hose goes up, the cycle repeats.

As for speed, I don't know, probably depends on how far below the fuel level the end of the hose is.

Thanks Aaron - I appriciate your help!!!:)

I use one of these to fuel my stuff

Mine is called a "Jiggler Siphon" and works great. I bought it from the
HF catalog years ago for $5 or so. It uses a clear marble and plastic fitting
on the end, instead of a steel ball.

With a 3/4" PVC hose, I can drain a 5-gal Jerry can in less than a minute.
I use it to drain tractor fuel tanks and transfer diesel to my fueling system.

I am a big fan of this tool.

I've been told that gasoline is flammable, diesel/kerosene is combustible.
You have been told correctly. Flammable liquids have a flash point of less than 100 degrees F and combustible liquids have a flash point above 100 degrees F.

100 degrees F - So on a hot day expect your gas to ignite?

I love that the ad says "Not for use with flammable liquids" when the sentence before says it is designed for a 5 gallon kerosene can:laughing:

oh - better tell people with kerosene heaters their kero isn't flammable!!

From wiki

The flash point of a volatile liquid is the lowest temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable mixture in air. Measuring a liquid's flash point requires an ignition source. At the flash point, the vapor may cease to burn when the source of ignition is removed.
The flash point is not to be confused with the autoignition temperature, which does not require an ignition source.
