F-series or YM

Bruce, what is difference between 2pt and 3pt hitch? I know my YM2000 has a 3pt, but I thought you only had to add a toplink to a 2pt. A previous post infers you can convert to 3pt and still have the 2pt.....confused.

I have both an F17D and a FX24D. My F17D has 380 hrs and looks brand new. I absolutely love it. It is an incredible piece of machinery. So far no problems getting parts. I even ran it into a boulder, broke a gear in the tranny. Len Sheaff was able to get the part for me, though I had to wait for it to come from Japan.

Kedoregon, just curious how long you had to wait for that part to get here from Japan?....Thanks

The tractors with 2pt hook ups have no lower lift arms. The tiller mounts directly to the tractor. The tiller is attached to the top rocker shafts to go up and down.

Thanks,
Bruce

It took quite a few months , because it wasn't in stock inJapan & wasn't scheduled to be made for a few months when ordered

I would buy the newest tractor, in the HP size I needed, that my budget could stand. The F series are coming in, and the dealers seem able to get the parts, so that isn't going to be a problem in the future. Buying a F series means that you are getting a newer tractor and the advancements that yanmar made in the newer series. If the conditions are the same buy newer. If it is as good as the dealer says, buy it. Parts problems are probably in the future, and I'm sure the dealers here will know how to get what you need then.

OUCH!...a few months? That would really hurt! I guess for Kedoregon with two tractors not that big of a deal though. I'm still going to go for it and hope I don't need a major part like that in the foreseeable future. Hopefully clifst2310 is correct and the F-series parts will start to become more available in the future. Thanks to all and the dealers that took their time to post. I'll remember you. If my dealer doesn't have something I need I will be sure to check with dealers here that have helped....It's been very nice to get opinions from people that aren't selling you the tractor!....Also thank to TBN for a great web sight.

for what its worth, I really like the F series open deck design and modern looks. I prefer full 3 pt lift systems but am in the conversion process on the smaller F tractors. I also have a 2210BD. Its a pretty spartan, simple tractor but easy to trouble shoot and repair. Sometimes simpler is easier especially for the do-it-yourselfer. F series have a few more electical gadgets that may need repairs in the long run. Hope parts remain available.
Great sources here on TBN
