I fixed two of the 4 door lock actuators yesterday before the temps went back too close to freezing. Talk about a stupid design!

Once you get them out, it's not so bad a repair. Guys are posting to use aluminum foil around the resistor that fails, but I just pounded out a piece of 12ga house wiring into the appropriate thickness and nipped it to length and shoved it in the slot. Took less time than cutting the foil to width.

Wow... good idea. I have 3 of them in a box I need to do that to, then all swap them into my trucks... would be nice to have all the door locks work.

Thanks!

I did the Mrs. and kiddo's side first because crawling over the inside of the truck is a bigger pain than turning the key in the door before I get in. :D

It's back in the low 30's again, so I'll be waiting for a little warmer weather before I snake through the other two doors. Doing these two at 45F was bad enough. The plastic gets stiff and so do my fingers.

My TYC '05 headlights showed up today. Those will wait for next week. Time to spend some quality time with the family and play in the woods on the tractor.

Did your fix work on the excursion?

I don't know for sure... the fuel smell is still there but not as bad, but I also didn't clean out the valley as well as is needed to be able to tell 'for sure'. It needs more TLC, brakes are pulling right... grrrrrrr, never enough time.

Anything new?

No... with nicer weather, Easter, working more (back up to 5-10's, was only working 4-10's), and harvesting locust poles for a future barn project, truck has been back burnered. Not much else to do until I bring home the long block, and that requires making room (cleaning up). Soon I hope....

I got the other lock actuators fixed, changed the fuel filter, put in 3/4 bottle of Diesel Kleen into about 15 gallons of fuel and got the start up smoke to stop and it idles nicer now. Put a new stereo in it today. New 05 lights last week.

C'mon Greg, you're slacking! :D

Sounds like your "new" pickup is shaping up nicely, you should start a thread for it.

Jim... I also like the '05-'07 lights, have them in 2 of my trucks.

I did remember that I haven't done the turbo yet, I spent about 10 minutes on it last night. Got the center loose from the exhaust/drive housing, and the turbine and shaft out.
