Yes I am planning on having a 10 ft by 18 ft deck off of the front, but it will not have a roof, just open deck.
We are getting quite a bit of rain up here so things have slowed up a bit, hopefully we will get a break in the action over the next couple of days !

Good Morning Guys,
Sorry for the long delay !

The weather has not really cooperated too well lately.
While the weather was not great, I built a corner cabinet for Kathleen for some extra storage in our little place. We did get the trusses up and have some pictures of that. The roof on the existing cabin is totally shot, and would have had to be redone this year even if we were not putting on an addition !

In the second picture, I think you should be able to see where we used 2x6's to space out all the trusses. The third and fourth shot I took looking into the upstairs bedroom while I was standing on the scaffolding, the floor is only partially completed.

The corner cabinet is built using birch plywood with pine fascia, very simple nothing fancy, fancy would not go in this cabin !

Sorry to hear you have to spend the money for a new roof, but that does make it easier to tie it all together!! Are you going with 3 tab shingles again?

MacLawn, glad Ethyl likes it ! Actually are neighbor next door is Ethyl also, lives out in the middle of 20 acres, and is 89 yrs young, great lady !

Eddie, we went with the same shingle as the barn, with the thick underlayment, the name escapes me right now. Hopefully it will hold up !

OK some updated pictures !

The weather has been rough, but we have the roof tied into the house, and the ice and water under layment put on.
The peak on the addition is only about 12" above the existing peak, and to me, does not look bad at all. Maybe a copper weather vane at the intersection to finish it off !

With the roof on we can concentrate on some inside work if we get more rain.

The place is starting to look like a little farm house, kind of the look that Kathleen and I were looking for !

Good Morning Eddie,
On the outside we caulk them, and on the inside I pack the pink insulation around the perimeter of the window, and then I finish trim the window with 3/4" pine.
