I found a guy selling parts for farmall tractors. Turns out he is a 83 year old farmall guy who has had 3 farmall 200s. I bought a gas tank from him because the homemade one the guy had on this tractor had gravel and water in it and was ugly. He also had a distributor that he had rebuild. I installed the distributor and since I already had the gas tank off I put on the new gas tank the difference was night and day it sounds like a different tractor. So if I would have listened to you DJ54 from the start and ordered a new distributor I would have saved myself a lot of time. I think the tank with the sediment bowl made a difference too. thanks again for your help I just wanted to confirm your first hunch was correct.

Glad to hear you got it, like it should be..!! You're probably better off with an OEM rebuilt one anyway.
Those are sweet little tractors, I think you'll like it a lot better now.
