We actually pay $5 per gallon for milk, but we buy it fresh from a local farmer. We get all of our milk, cheese, yogurt and many fresh vegitables from him.
Yes, the feds say we are breaking the law (or is it him breaking the law, or both? shrug) because we are not allowed to buy milk from our neighbors anymore. Too bad. I have no interest in my kids getting their fill of hormones and who knows what else, so we buy all that we can from local folks.
It's worth it to me to buy locally, paying more, but knowing what I'm getting, what's in it, and more importantly, what's not in it.
