I keep the last 12 hours of posts in my links folder for easy access. Some sites use favicons, small images instead of the explorer "e" in their address. I'd like to use the tractor image in the TractorbyNet logo for my link to this site. Anyway to do it? And have you thought about putting it in your address? It's no biggy, but it does make it a little quicker to pick out the site you want. I tried making a favicon but didn't have much luck. I could use the ones provided by Microsoft, but alas, they don't have one of a tractor. Just mainly computers and stuff. How shortsighted of them.

FYI, favicon's (favicon.ico) are only 16x16 pixels in size.

I did this very quickly in paint and saved as a .bmp; I can't find my neat icon-making program, but there are lots of them out there. I'm sure someone could do a better job -- I've never claimed to be an artist.

Probably closer to ags. Here's the 800% zoomed view in which I drew the picture.

Thanks Don,
My problem was in turning the drawing into an icon that Windows would recognize. You say there are programs to do that. New info for me. Guess I'll do a search. I thought renaming the file would do it, but I was wrong.

Neat job. I know you've already worked it out, but here's an icon maker that does it all -- create, extract, convert, solid or transparent, etc. -- but it costs $30: Icon Maker

Google "icon maker freeware" and so much stuff pops up I didn't bother to check it all out.
