From what I have read linking tractors to the CDL was a bit of a leap.

There was a link in the first post of this thread.

Not to any actual proposed regulations. Just commentary on the subject.

I think many jumped to conclusions. One of the proposed regulations, if you want to call it that, was to make tractors a CMV. Many then assume that means it needs a CDL which just isn't the case.

So assume that I can't read and point out where in the proposed regulations it says a CDL would be needed for a tractor.

There are way too many people working on farms that cannot pass a CDL test and really should not be operating this type of equipment on public roads. They only get by with it because "farm" trucks are exempt from the rules.

More of a danger on the highways are the old retired farts that have never driven anything but a compact car, go out and buy a 35 foot diesel pusher motor home or 5th wheel trailer and get out on the highways at 70 mph with no idea of how they handle, how fast they accelerate or how far it takes to stop them.
Theres where some driver education and licencing needs to be implimented.

RickB hit it on the head....YOU need to do your homework, THEN make your comments. It's not OUR place to educate YOU.

Just because YOU don't understand/WON'T understand (what is obvious to everyone else) doesn't make us wrong, nor does it change the facts.....It just means you don't/won't understand.

Guidance: No. Implements of husbandry are outside the scope of these definitions when operated: (1) At a farm; or (2) on a public road open to unrestricted public travel, provided the equipment is not designed or used to travel at normal highway speeds in the stream of traffic. This equipment, however, must be operated in accordance with State and local safety laws and regulations as required by 49 CFR 392.2 and may be subject to State or local permit requirements with regard to escort vehicles, special markings, time of day, day of the week, and/or the specific route

Thank for posting CURRENT laws regarding operation of farm equipment on public roadways. Now....go read the PROPOSED laws that have been taken down....You'll find them in my link.

You might want to look at why you THINK you're right, and why you think the entire world is wrong (including DOT officials when the publicly announced the proposed laws to include farm tractors, combines, ect, in their new laws were being taken down...) you MIGHT want to go back and look at what was actually proposed.
