That is a good diagram although what I was describing was a variation on that type of cut. In the cut that I am trying to describe (but not doing a great job) you leave a small piece uncut where the wedge is shown in the diagram. This uncut section's size depends on the size of the tree but it is usually 1-3", just enough to hold the tree in place then you can pull the saw out and finish the cut from the back by cutting that little tab you have left. This works well for trees that are leaning because you don't have to be right next too the tree when it starts to go. You can just stand back and touch the saw to the tab you left a few times until it breaks and the tree falls. I hope that makes sense...sorry to elaborate so much off topic from the thread!
