Hello. I was at two different conventions and I am back today. I put the relay in and the safety switch it and nothing happens. It is still dead! What is the chance one of the new ones are dead? Also, when I removed the switch, it was not tight, it was totally loose and I had not touched it. When I put the new one in I tightened it. I checked the switch for the brake and that moves in and out. I really need some help!

Is there a way to test the new relay and the new safety switch?

Testing voltages, this is what I found. 1st with the key turned on (not twisted to start) all voltages in the relay were zero, By -> Bw, By -> Br, By -> B, B -> Bw and B -> Br. With the key switched to the start position, all voltages were zero except By -> Bw and B -> Bw which were 11.1. This is with the two new parts installed. I am totally stumped, H E L P P L E A S E!

Arizona, I don't have a RTV, so can't really help, except for maybe to suggest that it may be time to admit defeat on this one and get some help. I really admire your determination to lick this yourself, but after 70+ posts and replacing several parts that evidently were not at fault there really seems to be zero progress. Perhaps you can find a friend that has experience with tracing down electrical issues using a volt-ohm meter and the schematic for your UTV.

I have put the manuals away and put my RTV back together. I had been verifying the testing procedures on my RTV as we went through them before. I wish your RTV was in front of me because I enjoy diagnosing better than typing (and would be much quicker). I wish you luck and you might want to reread the past posts. :)

JRobyn a most interesting thought? So since you have read this you know we are 65 miles from the dealer. That said, I just called a towing company and towing the RTV one way is between $325 and $350.00, and of course there is the return trip, making the total between $650 and $700 plus towing and fees. Since you think that wasting $700 is such a good idea, send me a check that cashes or my company takes Visa, MC, Discover and AMEX and we can help you with this great thought and suggestion. Doesn't pay for the repair one bit.

Now, with 25 plus years running a high end Stereo Salon, I am more than familiar with a volt-ohm meter. I have also built custom computers for over 18 years including the 9 currently in my little business.

I gave all the voltages between and betwixt and I was hoping that someone would see that one of them was not what it should be.

So let mw know what and how!
Thanks, Stu

I didn't say it was a "good idea", nor anything about paying for any repairs; it was a suggestion. Guess you missed the part about SCHEMATIC? If your experienced with your VOM, you should have no difficulty tracing through the limited number of devices in the starting circuits with it to identify what's knackered.

If I DID have a properly functioning RTV900, I wouldn't be too likely to start disassembling and/or unplugging stuff to compare my voltages betwixt and between to yours just to see what might be different! But it seems like in an extreme effort to help you out without you having to spend anything for repairs, ruffdog actually HAS! And it still hasn't helped you any. Just what do expect those on an internet forum to do?

You might consider borrowing or renting a trailer which might allow you to haul your RTV to the dealer or some other service shop. That might only "waste" $50 or so.

You handled that very well.
