It bypasses the safety switch.

Okay but which one? How or what does this tell me other than it doesn't work? I am sorry but I don't understand. Does this tell me that another switch is bad and not the starter switch? If so, which one. I haven't a clue.

You said that the B/W wire at the relay had power during START (good). That tells you that your ign switch is OK. In order for the relay to switch power to the B/Y wire (starter), it must get a signal from the safety switch on the transmission. That signal originates from the B/W wire (you said it had power), to the safety switch on the transmission, through the switch (in neutral), and back to the RELAY (red/blue). When the red/blue wire signals the relay to switch, your B/Y wire now has power and that wire goes to the starter solenoid.

Okay now I am confused. When I shorted the switch on the transmission, nothing happened and if I read and understand what you are saying, it should have started. I am going to go short it again (right now) just to double check. Thanks Stu

Okay I jumped / shorted the switch on the transmission. I inserted two wire into the female side, one on top and one on bottom to make sure it was making contact. THE RTV DOESN'T START! This doesn't make sense unless both the starter switch and the transmission switch are bad or it is something else. Please advise. Thanks Stu

True, by jumping between those two wires, you bypassed the relay and the safety switch circuit. Try jumping between the B/W and small red/blue wire, then start the rtv like normal. Do this when everything is plugged in. Let me know.

With the relay plugged in, and if you jumper between these 2 wires on the back side of the connector, it should start with the key if the relay is OK. This bypasses the whole safety switch circuit.

The power that energizes the starter solenoid does not go through the safety switch. The power that activates the relay is what goes through the safety switch, THEN, the relay connects the B/W to the B/Y.

That is the relay.

I read the explanation above so from that I order the relay! Now I realize I could have goofed. Please advise if I did.

And thanks once again for your patience and help! Stu
