I didn't say it was a "good idea", nor anything about paying for any repairs; it was a suggestion. Guess you missed the part about SCHEMATIC? If your experienced with your VOM, you should have no difficulty tracing through the limited number of devices in the starting circuits with it to identify what's knackered.

If I DID have a properly functioning RTV900, I wouldn't be too likely to start disassembling and/or unplugging stuff to compare my voltages betwixt and between to yours just to see what might be different! But it seems like in an extreme effort to help you out without you having to spend anything for repairs, ruffdog actually HAS! And it still hasn't helped you any. Just what do expect those on an internet forum to do?

You might consider borrowing or renting a trailer which might allow you to haul your RTV to the dealer or some other service shop. That might only "waste" $50 or so.

Thanks for the kind advice. The RTV doesn't start. Thanks again for all your help.

Well again thanks. I have bought a new Gel battery, a new starter and two switches. Does kind of help your comments if you read what was in the comments preceding when you are criticizing! Once again, thanks for all the help. It was most insightful!

Easy now. :D

G'day after reading your volt meter results and looking at the wiring diag posted I am a bit confused by your results as I see it there is no power to the relay until your are in the start pos, do you have a test light? I find these can be less confusing than a vm.

The way I read the w/diag in the start pos you should have power to the BW the RL ( hard for me to see on diag but I think this is right ) and on the BY wire which should go to your starter.

The BW wire goes from the back of the ign switch and feeds the s/switch and the power into the relay

The RL wire should be the pull in for the relay

The BY wire is the feed from the relay to the starter

And the B wire is the earth ( ground) for the relay coil

Can you make a jumper wire up to jump the BY and the BW wires and try to start?

Also with your ohm meter check the B wire has a good path to earth (ground)

If it does crank with the jumper installed then remove jumper and check to see if you have power to the RL wire when your are in the start position if all this checks out ok then you have a dud relay

Hope this helps
Jon

Well thanks all. I have now replaced the battery, the starter and all the safety switches. Still no progress. That leaves only one thing since jumping the BW-->BY wire lets me start it. It has to be critter damage. My Kubota dealer will not fix the wiring, they will only replace whatever has been damaged. However, My Mahindra dealer will repair the damage to the wiring so next Wednesday it goes to the Mahindra dealer. Again thanks to all for helping me, teaching me and helping! Stu

Bummer. Sorry this has been such a hassle.

Sounds like the Kubota dealer only wanted to replace damaged components rather than do a repair of existing wiring?? :(

What they are saying is that the potential liability of repairing a wiring harness is too great. Whilst I don't agree, my Mahindra dealer is stepping up and doing the right thing. And they have on site service if needed and it is a modest charge. The Mahindra dealer is great, to say the least!

Thanks and make sure that you have a great day!

Good luck and please share the conclusion to your troubles. My RTV900 is down right now with serious transmission troubles and have had zero luck finding help searching online.

Any solution to this problem? My RTV900 is doing essentially the same thing, but with a slightly different twist to it. Just hoping there was a solution to this problem.
