Howdy Scotty,

You might try looking for a tailwheel for a model 101 plow. I THINK they're extremely close to the same shape. They pop up on ebay from time to time.

I just gave one away about 2 months ago.

Mornin Guys,
posted over on the Implement board on YT and one fella called them "blacksmith sharpen type of shares".

Could be.

When I was a kid I used to watch my granddad repoint plows (he was a blacksmith in Auburndale, WI, pop. 325 then and 738 now). He used old pieces of rasp (the kind used in horseshoeing), forge-welded it to the share, bent it in a U-shape then finished with a hammer weld. The point was shaped on a grinding wheel.

Hey, I thought the correct way to shine up a plow was to drag it through some earth! Looking good Scotty, keep the pictures coming...

The old way of "shinin'" one up was take it to the creek and plow a sandbar with creek gravel in it, it won't take long to have it shine like new, or you can plow about an acre of ground.....bobg in va

Mornin Rob,
You are absolutely correct ! One problem, the plow is in Ct with me and the Massey is in Vt, and I dont have a creek bed handy ! ;) So both you and Bob got it right, I just dont have what I need to do it properly ! :)

For those guys that have a similar plow Im attaching a link to the
N-Newsletter where you can obtain manual reprints on old Ford and Dearborn equipment. I thought guys like Steve may be looking for this type of info. I got this off of the Implement Board on YT.

Im hoping to have the whole plow dissassembled over the weekend and contiinue next week.

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend !

Good Day Scotty

Here is a picture of my Ferguson 2 14" I rebuilt over the winter. One of the most obvious differences is the cross bar. You will note on the Ferguson the ends are bent on each end in opposing directions. This accomplishes the same thing as the plate on your straight bar.

I have a set of 14" moldboards left over from my rebuild (wrong part number so wrong bolt pattern. I think your plow is looking for a 10" or a 12" isn't it?

I ended up trading the DK45 you came over to look at. Thats a long story. Nothing wrong with the tractor. Wife would not drive standard transmission.

Al

Lunch sounds great. It will have to wait until after Fall Tour season though.

I want to get down and see the harrow set you got. Looks pretty good in the picts.

Scott, give me a measurment of your plow points...from the inside edge to the inside edge of the the bolt holes and a measurment from the edge of the round "pilot" to the back end of the share (should be about 2 or 3 inches...). Looking at that plow point you took off, I may have a couple of old but never used plow points for that plow...Also of the two bolt holes, is one larger than the other??/ BobG in VA
