Now to get it changed, and the filter out without getting it all over everything. Wish there was more room down in the tub.
Put a zip lock bag over the filter from below before unscrewing it, bunching up the extra bag near the top of the filter. All the oil overflow goes in the bag. No mess.

Wish there was a handhold in the back of the tub that I could actually get my arm into without causing much pain. Power Trac definitely wasn't think maintainability when they sized the tub and position the components.

Thanks for the advice on the bag, I have big hands and looks like it might be easier to get in there if I take the heat shield off also.

I am like you, and would have been nice if they would have made the tub a hair bigger to do things.

Through the week I go to watchmaker school in the city of York, so on the weekends I drive back home and just don't have much time to spend on the machine. The hand controls are just about finished.

The nice thing with finding out if this Fram filter works is that I will be able to go with a FRAM Tough Guard filter. I used a regular FRAM filter on my Steiner 30 HP for about 200 hrs and then the FRAM dealer said all he had in was the Tough Guards in that size, so although reluctant , I bought one. WOW! That engine can be ran for about 30 hrs and the oil still looks like it was just changed! Sometime I would like to check the micron rating on it.


Josh, I am going to stick with the Subaru one. Penny here or there shouldn't hurt me.

So, just what is the hold up with putting a few hours on yours. I am right at 20 and going to change it in the next day or so.

Have you tried any of those new attachments you got yet?

The FRAM dealer thinks this filter size will work, but cautioned me to make sure it fits properly. So, I haven't tried it out yet, but the FRAM number is PH4967.

If the FRAM PH4967 works, then the higher quality one I was saying about (FRAM Tough Guard) will be part number TG4967.

I'm really curious now to see if this PH4967 filter works now, because to my amazement they FRAM also makes a synthetic oil filter to match that number.

Haha! Yeah, its painfully delicate work. Some of the pivots on a watch arbor (axle) that fit into a jewel are literally the thickness of a hair and can break if dropped, then you need to find or make one.
