Great. It's fun to study something new.
Please attach the documentation.
You can search for it.
Even on this site there’s people reporting high hours on Honda GX engines. Splash, non-filtered oil lubrication.
It’s the air filter that really matters.
Millions of small engines run thousands of hours with no oil filtration.
Remove the air filter, and see how long they last 😄

I'm going to be doing the 800 hour service on my Kubota B2320. This will be my first time doing major service myself instead of having the dealer do it.

While researching online for filters and fluids I'm finding some on ebay are about half the price of what Messicks offers. It's about a $75 difference. Is it worth the risk to use a cheap filter or should I stick with a name brand?
Cross Filters: I have used this company without problems for years. Just give them the machine info and get every filter on the machine shipped in one box. Great prices. Security Measure

The argument applies to smaller capacity single cylinder engines. Multicyinder engines are complex and splash lubrication is not conducive to such engines. These engines are provisioned with pressure lubrication and equipped with oil filters. Folks will typically select OE filters for such engines, or choose other reputable brand filters based on cross reference to the OE filters/specifications. Though OE filters are not strictly required, junk, no brand filters not assembled well, with poor quality filtration media, sloppy glue application for sealing and improper bypass pressure setting (as applicable) will potentially cause harm to the engine.

Kinda surprised no one has said not to use Fram filters, I have been using Fram filters on lots of stuff for many years and they never caused any problems that I’m aware of.

My argument is valid for single and multi cylinder engines. Put good clean oil in your engines and do regular changes. Junk miss-made oil filters aside, regular changes of decent oil filters is going to provide the same lifespan of your machine as someone obsessed over buying the most expensive oil filters.
Single cylinder or multi.. A good air filter is much, much more important.

I use Fram XG filters (as well as Puro One/Boss filters on multiple vehicles and my JD178 and a Subaru RGV12100 generator. No issues at all.

Not knocking these guys but this is typical of how ultra cheap filters are made. What is questionable is the quality and suitability (e.g. does it have the required particle size retention for your particular application?) of the filter media, and the internal cleanliness, i.e. freedom from dirt and swarf. Personally, I'd go for a known brand at least.

Cannot imagine doing this all day long.
I have nothing but the highest respect for these guys.
I think we tend to make a big deal of certain things and that mountains are not necessarily made of mole hills all the time.

How many filters do you think those presses get per finger or hand?
