Finally got grapple hooked up

I ran the hoses last week from the rear remotes to the fel. I thought I had the wrong Quick connects for the rear, but did get them to seat in the female end today. My lines are a little long but that's better than to short. I really don't like all the slop I have where the front connections are. A bulkhead connection is in my future.
My grapple and QA 42" forks came from Titan industries. Everything was secured to a wood pallet. Te grapple also has a very nice steel cage all around it with small casters ( very small) on the corners. Very nice job! The spacing on the flanges that connect the grapple or forks to the loader looks fine. The shipping was fast too. Everything looks heavy duty.

It takes a bit of slack. Here is mine curled back and dumped. I put bungies on for a temporary solution. Trouble is they been there for years now :laughing:

Check your hose length at full dump. That's what will take the most hose. I use a tarp strap on mine, only I hooked from the hoses to the grapple. That way I do not have to disconnect the tarp strap when I take the grapple off.

What model grapple did you get from Titan? I had been eyeing their L grapples but the dimensions, particularly the opening dimension seems considerably less than WR Long's L grapple. Also, which website did you buy through?

Tom, I purchased the 48" grapple from Titan (pallet forks.com). The website is at the top of the "attachment" page. I don't know if I have a picture of the grapple fully opened. I don't remember thinking, " i wish it opened more", of course I don't know what I'm doing lol. Tim

I think the Titan L grapples open to something like 32", but there rack grapples open to 48". Either way would you really ever need to pick up something more than 32" or could you pick up something larger than 32"? :confused3:

Now that I have that website and look at the 48" model I see the jaws open to 90 degrees. This site also sells Titan grapples and shows the 72" grapple as opening 34" while the closed height is 29". It makes it look like the jaws only opened a little higher than it is tall. Dimensions seem off.

I plan on using this on my larger 80 and 100hp tractors and want a large bite.

Wider opening grapples are useful for grabbing a larger bite of loose brush.

Yes, big bites of jungle clearing brush and tree branches. I am less concerned about the width than the opening dimension and the depth of the lower jaw. I emailed Titan and they came back saying the 34" opening was correct. I was hoping for more. Their price is great but it seems part of the reason their price is low is the grapple itself seems to be smaller than WR Long which would make sense. Less steel, and in the pictures it is hard to tell the size. My upper range of machines this will go on (100hp) may limit me to the expensive grapples.

I have Titan's 72" rake grapple and it is great for brush but picking up stumps and logs with it is not always easy. It is kind of like cutting something with dull kids scissors, what you are trying to cut keeps popping out the end. The rake style from Titan has small lower teeth and it does not grab odd shaped logs well.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that is my experience. I am thinking of getting an L grapple or simply fixing up some "forks" that I can drop onto the grapple while trying to pick up large loads. Of course that lowers my payload. Having an opportunity o buy a C grapple over, I may have looked at the Wildkat Extreme. Anbo is so expensive, but they are nice.

Yea I already started to look at the Titan root grapple it has the lower forks and two upper arms it shouldn't have any problem picking up anything. I really didn't don't like the idea of two separate upper arms because I don't want to lift heavy items (like a large rock) on one side or the other because that isn't good on a loader and they can bend, and they don't open all that far but I don't think that would be a problem or not much.
Yea the anbo units are really nice altho they are really expensive I could justify getting both the rake and the root grapple and have it covered either way for about the same. Oh man I wish I hadn't just typed that now that is all I will think about!
