Tractor Sizing finish mower SIZE

My 1500D will run a 5 foot brush hog or finish mower. Keeping the blades sharp helps and 130 lbs of front weight. 4th gear for heavy and 5th for lighter grass (really weeds). A sixfooter would be more than I'd want for it.

I saw a 1610D for sale with a new First Choice Estate 5' mower for $5,000. Is this a good price for this tractor? IT has about 200 hours. Tires are in excellent shape and the tractor is clean. Doesnt look like its been painted to look like a newer tractor.

Around here, that would be an excellent price for a 4WD with a finish mower. You might consider that 200 hours seems low to me, could be 1,200. But I wouldn't blink an eye at a Yanmar with 1,200 hours. It will last many many more years. 1,200 hours is just getting broke in.

Thanks for the info. I am dealing with someone that directly imports tractors. I saw the hour meter. The meter will go up to 9,999 hours. I dont think it has that many though. The person i am dealing with says that the Japanese use their tractors differently than we do here. Different uses and the amount of hours and acreage. How can i know if the hours are true? This is my first buy. I am comfortable with the dealer. He took 2 1/2 hours of his time to talk to me Saturday and was not in a hurry or trying to sell me something i didnt need. I have 3 acres of flat land in Chesapeake VA. I will mainly mow with my tractor and the ocassional light lanscaping.

If it has a 10,000 hour meter then possibly that is the correct number. True they do use them a lot dofferently than we do here in the States. I seem to remember someone telling me that if the tractor is not up to "operating range" in RPM, the meter will not register correct hours, but I have no idea if this is correct.

Yes, you are correct, usually a diesel engine hour meter registers one hour for a certain RPM, (ie 2600 rpm for one hour will register one hour on the meter. 1300 RPM for two hours will register one hour on the same machine.) To the best of my understanding, Yanmar 's meters are set up to register one hour at the rated Horsepower RPM.

I did noticed that the tachometer worked and that the hour meter, the tenth/hour slot was moving. I will be going back to look over the tractor again and see what else might have come in. What are things that i should be loking for when i look at buying a used tractor, Yanmar in particular?
