I don't know about other states but Iowa is really cracking down on it. When I got my Gator I had to write down specifically what I would be using it for related to the ranch. They also want to know how much of it is personal use. It used to be you just told them you were a ranch or a farm. Now you have to have your federal tax id number for your business or they will not let you not pay the sales tax.

I know, from being in line behind farmers/contractors at TSC, they are required to sign a form (or be on file) that they are exempt from sales tax. That's what surprised me at the Kubota dealer. If I was a tax auditor, I'd concentrate on the places that sell big ticket items such as tractors. No one likes coughing up another 6% (PA rate) on an already expensive purchase, but it sure beats getting caught. It's a risk for the buyer, but a bigger risk for the dealer.

Well in that I live in Taxassachusetts, I already have planned on paying the sales tax @ 5% , the registration, insurance, and we have a personal tax @ $10. per $1000.00 value (only $5.00 per if you are a farm , also goes against any hoofed critters you have to , it's $15.00 per if you are business in this state ), lets see .... aaaaah , I may have missed one or two more taxes/ fees that will have to be paid , Got to love this STATE , love it more when they cry they are out of money and need more .......

Same here in Iowa Bwa. The property taxes are just insane here. Now every county has gone to adding another 2% to the sales tax as well. I really wonder where it will ever stop.
