4shorts, I see where you have a Kubota L2674 blower. I just bought a L3540HSTC with the L2674 snow blower. I haven't had snow yet to use it but have been looking it over. Compared to my Ecnor snow blower on my B3030HSDC I don't like the way they have the shield over the rear of the PTO shaft. On the Ecnor it has a bolt on each side and just flips up. On the L2674 I have to pull the hair pin and remove the cover. It is far more difficult than on the Ecnor. I haven't tried to remove the sheer bolt there yet but it looks as if there isn't much room to spare. I am hoping I don稚 have to remove the shaft from the blower to replace the sheer bolt. Have these things been a problem for you? I know if I had your shop I would be modifying the PTO shield cover!

If any one else has experience with the L2674 blower I would be happy for any feed back.

Mine never did have a pto cover. I did see them on other blowers pto's shaftd and considering I've had to replace the shear bolt back there I'm glad I don't have that guard there. I know it's a safety item but I'm the only one who uses my tractor plus the pto can't operate if I'm out of my seat so I'll never put a guard there. That being said I'm sure you could modify it to flip out of the way if you had to replace the shear bolt.

I got looking at mine today and tried to remove the sheer bolt. I couldn't get it out without disconnecting the PTO from the tractor and lowering it and moving it to one side to get enough clearance to get it out. I reinstalled it, putting the bolt in from the blower side. There was enough clearance with the PTO connected to put it in that way and room to get the nut on the end. The fourth picture shows the sheer bolt after I removed the nut but before I changed the way it went in to the yoke.

I wish the shield was hinged like on my Ecnor 60 blower. The first two pictures show the Ecnor with the hinged shield. The next two show the Kubota L2674 with the shield that you have to remove by pulling the hair pin and lifting off the cover. You don't get a hair pin off and on easily with gloves on in the middle of a snow storm! I think the design could be improved.

No doubt about it they could have done a better job on the workings of that guard. I'll make one for mine in the next day or so and post the pics for you. As for the shear bolt. I use a pointy punch and a small hammer and out it comes.

When I get a chance I will have someone make me a piece the length of the shield with an ear bent back on both ends. I will grind off the top "tab" that holds the shield and hair pin, and drill it and my manufactured piece so I can bolt the two together. I will then drill out bolt holes through the back upper corner of the shield into the two ears and use a bolt and lock nut on each side to make my hinge. That should give me a shield that will easily flip up out of the way and be easy to get at the sheer bolt.

That sounds like a good idea. I think these blowers are built in Quebec, Canada for kubota. They didnt put enough thought into the guard I guess.
