I have a really hard time buying new, knowing the depreciation that occurs on anything the second it rolls off the lot. I committed to the used BX2660 mentioned before. I think it's a fair price and I can reasonably call it an "investment" lol. I think depending on how this goes, o could possibly see myself eventually trading it in on a bigger, hopefully again super low hours unit.
Nice pic of yourself.Keep them coming..LOL..Happy easter, get outside and hunt some easter eggs.
So thanks again everyone who had some helpful input. I'm looking at my second tractor now, and after doing quite a bit of research I think this is a much better route. I decided to just bite the bullet and double my budget and look for some low hour sub compacts. I'm looking at an extremely clean, 50 hour Kubota Bx2660 with a loader and 60 inch belly mower for $11,000. How does that price seem? From my research it seems very reasonable, especially within 200 miles or so of me. And does anyone have experience with this machine? How does it perform on some smaller homestead jobs? Moving snow? My yard gets kind of soft, is this going to be too heavy for consistent yard mowing without tearing it up? It does not have turf tires. Anything else helpful anyone would like to chime in? Thank you.
I could be wrong but I didn't think tractor values dropped off that much compared to cars.
Sounds like someone got a heck of a deal! You know, a few years back I had just the machine you are looking for. A mid-80s vintage Yanmar 336D with ps, loader, 12 speed power shift, 4wd, and a blade on back. Turf tires. 33 hp, about 800 hours.... and never had any required any repairs in spite of working it hard. All records and manuals. I had bought it from a rental company about 1992 for 12K. At our place it lived under a tarp, not a shed.
We sold it 5 years ago for 5K, and probably should have asked 10K or even more - I've a feeling the buyer would have paid the higher price as easily as the lower.
I'm telling you this just to let you know that there are similar deals out there. You don't need to be looking at junk or at machines that don't fit your projects. You just need to get educated on the market.
